BECAUSE OF YOU

It was another banner year for ODU Athletics and our 500 student-athletes.

In the classroom last semester, ODU student-athletes recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.09. We had 178 (36%) student-athletes achieve Dean’s List honors (3.4 or higher) and 274 student-athletes attain a 3.0 or better (58%). Clearly, ODU student-athletes are winning in the classroom.

We added some hardware to our trophy cases in 2017 with both Women’s Golf and Men’s Soccer taking home a Conference USA Championship. We are proud of our Men’s Soccer Team and their advancement to the second round of the Division I Men’s Soccer NCAA Championship. ODU Wrestling had three student-athletes earn All-American honors, and Baseball cracked the Top 25 for the first time since 2007.

Virginia Tech visits us this year for a showdown in S.B. Ballard Stadium on September 22nd. We all look forward to such a historic occasion in just our 10th season of football!

It was a record setting fundraising year in 2017, raising $12M in new gifts and pledges, a 50% increase over 2016! The continued success of ODU Athletics is possible thanks to the support of our donors, alumni, fans and community members, such as yourself.

As we look to 2018, I challenge you to invite others to join you in your support of ODU Athletics and the ODAF. On behalf of our 500 student-athletes and staff, I thank you in advance for your support. Because of you, we create winners in the classroom, in athletic competition, and in life.

GO MONARCHS!

Cordially,

Dr. Camden Wood SeligDirector of AthleticsODAF MEMBER

FROM THE DESK OF DR. SELIG OUR MISSIONThe mission of the ODAF is to raise financial support for Old Dominion University Athletics and to ensure that our coaches and student-athletes have the resources necessary to compete for championships.

Members of the ODAF also enjoy the satisfaction of knowing their gifts are investments in the lives of our student-athletes, providing the academic foundation and character building traits learned through a collegiate athletic experience. Because of you, we create winners in the classroom, in athletic competition, and in life.

Athletics InitiativeGOAL $40 Million PURPOSE

ODU Athletics will make a significant investment in athletic scholarships and athletic facility enhancements. Increased scholarship support will allow ODU Athletics to continue to provide educational opportunities to high caliber student-athletes, and premier athletic facilities will give our coaches and administration the ability to recruit and retain first class student-athletes.

IMPORTANCEA successful intercollegiate athletics program provides a rallying point for the student-body, alumni and the entire Hampton Roads community. Currently, ODU Athletics’ ambitious aspirations exceed our current level of funding. For ODU Athletics to continue on our rise to national prominence, this athletics initiative is critical.

New for 2018

Q: How and when is tailgate parking allocated?A: Parking is allocated based on your 2018 ODAF membership level and then by priority points within each level. Please submit your parking request at www.olddominionaf.com before May 1st.

Q: If I meet the projected donation level, am I guaranteed a space in my requested lot?A: Unfortunately, there is no guarantee that the projected gift amount will equate to a spot in that parking area. In order to make sure you are happy with your assigned spot, the ODAF suggests that each member utilizes all three options on the parking request form.

Q: If I park with a group, how are we allocated?A: In an effort to be fair to our membership, parking will be allocated based on the donor with the lowest membership level.

Q: If I do not want to tailgate, but would like to receive a garage parking pass, can I do so?A: Yes, members at the $2,000 donation level and above can forgo their tailgate benefit and request a Red Garage pass. Members below the $2,000 donation level can request a Yellow Garage pass.

Q: If I have more than 4 tickets, can I purchase an additional parking pass?A: Yes. If an individual is at the $5,000 donation level or above they can purchase one additional Red Garage pass for $100. If an individual is below the $5,000 donation level they can purchase one additional Yellow Garage pass for $50.

Q: Do I have to have my pledge paid in full to receive my parking pass for the 2018 season?A: ODU Football parking is allocated based on your 2018 ODAF Membership level. To receive your parking pass you must have either paid your pledge in full or set up a payment plan prior to August 1st.

2018 ODAF FOOTBALL PARKINGTo receive a parking space for 2018, you must submit a parking request form by May 1, 2018.

Football Parking FAQ’s

The deadline to request football parking for the 2018 season is May 1, 2018

Changes to the Red GarageDue to high demand during the 2017 Football season, the ODAF has implemented the following qualifications for the Red Garage. • In order to purchase an additional pass, the season ticket holder must be at the $5,000 donation level or higher. • Any additional Red Garage pass will be $100.

Below you will find the projections for each tailgate lot. Please visit www.olddominionaf.com to submit your parking request before May 1, 2018.

For fans who do not wish to tailgate, but would like to receive a garage pass instead, there are two options for 2018. ODAF members at the $2,000 donation level and above can request a Red Garage pass, while ODAF members below the $2,000 donation level can request a Yellow Garage pass.

The Mitchum Basketball Performance Center opened in the Spring of 2017 as the NEW home for Monarch basketball. The facility is located behind the Ted Constant Convocation Center on Monarch Way.

Q: What does my ODAF donation support?A: Your annual contribution helps to provide the resources necessary for ODU student-athletes to compete for championships at the Division I level. Contributions to the ODAF can also fund scholarship endowments and capital projects, such as facility enhancements.

Q: Is my donation to the ODAF tax-deductible?A: The new tax reform law states that any donation that results in the right to purchase tickets for seating at an athletic event is 0% tax deductible. Please consult with your tax advisor regarding the tax deductibility of your gift to the ODAF.

Q: Are my ticket and parking locations affected by my ODAF Membership level?A: Yes. Seat and parking location is allocated based on your ODAF Membership and ODAF Priority Points. For more information, please reference the ticket and parking pages (page 10 through 15).

Q: My company offers a matching gift plan; can I apply this to my ODAF Membership?A: Yes, the ODAF accepts matching gifts for membership. Please contact your company’s benefits specialist for more information.

Q: What are other ways to accumulate priority points?A: Other ways to accumulate priority points include joining the 110% club, referring a new member through the Power of the Pride program, sport specific giving or becoming a Monarch Legacy Society member.

Q: Is there any way I can lose my priority points?A: To be an active ODAF member, you must make a current year gift. Points related to cumulative giving, purchasing season tickets and bonus points received through the 110% Club or Power of the Pride will never be lost. However, points previously gained through consecutive years of giving to the ODAF or purchasing season tickets will be lost if there is a lapse in giving to the ODAF or purchasing season tickets.

Q: Can my priority points be transferred to someone else?A: All priority points related to giving and tickets can only be transferred to a spouse. No other immediate family members, friends, or other entities can receive a transfer of priority points.

Q: I’m not interested in season tickets, but I still want to help; why should I donate to the ODAF?A: For those who cannot make it to an athletic event, you can show your Monarch pride by making a contribution to the ODAF. By making a contribution, you help to provide ODU Athletics with additional resources. These additional resources give us a competitive advantage and help to ensure the success of ODU Athletics. In addition, your philanthropic donation is tax deductible.

Q: Can I make a donation from a Donor Advised Fund (DAF), Private Foundation or IRA Distribution?A: Yes. A contribution in these forms are welcomed. However, please note per IRS regulations, that the ODAF cannot offer any benefits for gifts coming from a DAF, private foundation or IRA per IRS regulations. Contributions from these sources may only be applied to a gift that is 100% tax deductible. Please consult your tax advisor for more information.
