Because I know He holds the future, And life is worth the living just because he lives.”
-By Gloria Gaither
Spring has sprung! Some days it feels really nice outside: 65º-70º and sunny. But some days it is just cold and very windy. Do I need to even mention the amount of rain we have gotten this year? It’s just crazy! You see, the weather is unpredictable. Even with the technology we have today, weather is still unpredictable. Think about it, in the last 2 years, we have feared hurricanes that were tracked to come through Robbins. We watched countless hours of weather newscasts that had us right in its path. So, we prepared for the worst. But in both cases, by God’s grace, the hurricane turned away from us. Don’t get me wrong, we still had some rough weather and some major flooding but we did not get hit like originally predicted. Life is kind of like this. I think about all the things I have witnessed, heard testimony of, and even been through. Accidents, sickness, loss of family members, loss of jobs, broken marriages, addictions, and the list goes on and on. Our whole life is changed in the blink of an eye! Life is very UNPREDICTABLE.
But you know who is not surprised by any of it? Who is never caught off guard? God! That’s right, our heavenly Father! He is still in control. He is still sovereign. He is aware of everything that comes our way before it even gets there. And He is at work in those situations before we are aware if it! Let’s look at some for instances.
► Moses and Children of Israel at the Red Sea- What a scene. Millions of people stuck between an uncrossable sea and Pharaoh’s mighty army! They were mad at Moses for taking them from Egypt. But God knew he would part the sea and allow them to walk across on dry land. And He did just that! ► David and Goliath- The Philistine champion challenging the army of Saul daily to come out to fight. All of Israel’s mighty warriors huddled in their tents, shaking with fear. Not one man willing to challenge the over 9 ft. tall giant. But God was at work and sent a shepherd boy named David to take a sling and a stone and slay the giant before all the Israelites and Philistines. ► Feeding of the 5000- Jesus knew the people were hungry and needed food. He called on Philip to go buy food. What was Philip’s response? “Where are we going to get that much food and what are we going to pay for it with?” But Jesus took 5 loaves and 2 fish and fed over 5000 people (got to include the women and
children). Not only that, but Jesus sent the disciples around to collect the left- overs. There were 12 baskets full.
I could go on with story after story from the Bible of how God showed up with things seemed so difficult. The one common theme in all of this is FAITH! Believing in God.
Trusting in God. That is what each and every one of us are supposed to do when we just don’t know what to do! Solomon said in Proverbs:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; In all your ways
acknowledge Him, And He shall [a]direct your paths.
Proverbs 3:5-6
Did you hear that? Do you understand the depth of that? TRUST IN THE LORD! In our lives today, this truth is still relevant: TRUST IN THE LORD. Though life is unpredictable, you can count on this, God will always show up when you trust in Him. In the darkest night, the most violent storm, God will show up! He may not show up in the way you think He will or even should. BUT HE WILL SHOW UP! TRUST IN THE LORD! I am so happy to welcome Becky Meetze to our church staff as Interim Director of Students and Families. I know she is going to do a great job. Pray for her and our youth. May the Lord bless you. I look forward to seeing each of you very soon.
When we think about spring, the one thing that comes to our minds is the flowers blooming and the grass growing. In our relationship with the Lord, it means growing in our daily walk with Him. I’m happy to share what the Lord has been doing in our congregation. Recently, during a visit to a family that has been coming to church, my wife led a lady to the Lord. Also, we have been able to begin some structure within our congregation.
The members agreed on naming
Paula Shaw Ortiz as our treasurer and brothers Gregorio Debray and Efren Diaz as their assistants. In addition, my wife was able to better organize our children’s ministry. Selena Valdovinos shared the desire to be trained as a new children’s teacher. Our children’s leadership consists of my wife, Paula and Selena. We praise the Lord for His servants being willing to serve in different ministries. Pastor: Ernesto Robledo, D. Min.
Pastor: Ernesto Robledo, D. Min.

We always welcome those who want to sing with us in the Choir! We meet on Sunday evenings at 7:00 pm after Bible Study. Come join us as we sing His praises. May 5th will be our last Sunday evening rehearsal before the summer break. We will have some Wednesday evening rehearsals during the break. In the featured Song of the Month, Songwriter George Clinton wrote the simple lyrics to Dolly Parton’s song, “He’s Alive” that celebrates our resurrected Savior:
He's alive yes He's alive Yes He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive yes He's alive Oh He's alive and I'm forgiven Heaven's gates are open wide He's alive He's alive He's alive I believe it He's alive Sweet Jesus
to the LORD a new song, for he has done marvelous things; his right hand and his holy arm have worked salvation for him. The LORD has made his salvation known and revealed his righteousness to the nations. He has remembered his love and his faithfulness to Israel; all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth, burst into jubilant song with music; make music to the LORD with the harp, with the harp and the sound of singing, with trumpets and the blast of the ram’s horn, shout for joy before the LORD, the King. Let the sea resound, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it. - Psalm 98:1-7
I would like to say a huge thank
you to my RFBC family for trusting in me to lead our youth during this
interim time. I'm so excited about
what the Lord is going to do over our next few months together! I see
it as a time for growing and building, definitely not a time to stand still.
Along with the newly introduced
"Youth-Led Devotions" and "Adult/Youth Mentorship Nights,"
there's also a "Youth Bible Reading Challenge" that will be conducted
from April - June (ending with one of our youth winning a $50 prize).
There are also many upcoming
events on the calendar. Please take note of each one and if you have a
young person in our program, make every effort to get them here. God's
going to do great things...don't let
them miss it!
