Istion Yachting was founded in 1992 by Ioannis Kourounis. The company started with a small fleet of sailing yachts based in Kos Island in the Dodecanese and grew rapidly offering yacht charters throughout Greece. Istion’s Yachting Academy is a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) accredited sailing school based in Athens, Greece. We offer the complete range of RYA practical sailing courses from beginner to advanced including the popular Competent Crew and Day Skipper certifications and a selection of custom courses aimed at professionals working in the yachting and maritime industries.

For those looking to combine learning to sail with an enjoyable holiday, our Athens base makes a perfect starting point for the theory based parts of our courses with the practical section taking in trips to the nearby Saronic or Cyclades island groups.

Celebrating the joy of the Catamaran

Istion Yachting launched the Catamarans Cup International Regatta in Greece, for the first time in October 2010. The Catamarans Cup is an international regatta combining a sailing race with a relaxing holiday week in the Greek islands. There are many side events, such as a special welcome for the participants on every island of call, fun competitions, awards and ceremonies, cocktail parties, beach BBQs, dinners and lot of fun! Experienced crews are welcome to charter a cat, while individuals without experience may join one of our open-crew cats that are available in every Catamarans Cup. Groups with no experience can also participate, chartering one of our catamarans with a skipper.
