  Beautiful Nature at Teknaf 

 Teknaf is named because it lies on a curve or ‘Tek’ on the

river ‘Naf’. At the distance of 505 kilometer from the capital

Dhaka, Teknaf is a part of Co’s !a"ar. Teknaf is an upa"ila, #hich

is situated at Co’s !a"ar District in the division of Chitta$on$. %t

divided !an$ladesh and &'anmar. The scenario beside the Naf 

(iver is ama"in$. %f someone visits the river Naf #ith boat, he)she

can $et mesmeri"ed b' the vie# of nature.

Naf (iver’s #ater is mied #ith saline #ater. Nature has

adopted the saline #ater #ith man' precious $ifts. %ts banks are

covered #ith man$rove forest, locall' called *!erabon+. The area

has variet' of birds and animals. era and Taim are the trees,

present here, #hich remain una-ected b' the saline #ater and

the saline soil.

&an$rove forests are characteri"ed b' pneumatophore, the

stra#like spike, #hich $ro# up /00/50 millimeter verticall' from

soil. %n hi$h tide, crabs and other little creatures climb up the

trees. As soon as the tide $oes a#a', the' once a$ain disappear

in the murk' soil.

%t is ver' dicult to #alk in the man$rove forest for

pneumatophore. There are man' land areas for livin$ the human

kind separated b' ‘1ara’. The area of Teknaf is about 23/ s4uare

kilometer includin$ the sediments. %n the area, ever'one is

someho# depended on Naf (iver for sustainin$. Teknaf As #ell As

Naf (iver is full of natural resources. The' call the river Naf as

‘Neemrai’, means $od’s river.

%n Teknaf a hu$e amount of salt is

produced)collected)harvested. or salt cultivation, there are 6elds

#ith hi$h borders called ‘Ail’. %n hi$h tide, salt' #ater comes here

and $ets trapped. 7hen the #ater dries up, onl' salt cr'stals left

behind.

 There are lots of 6shes present in the river, a variet' of 

6shes indeed. ishermen ties their lon$ 6shin$ net or ‘8hora9al’

around the riverbank to trap 6shes. %n hi$h tide 6shes comes #ith

the #ave and $et trapped here. A ma9orit' of Teknaf people are

6sherman. The 6shes are bein$ sold in t#o #a's. :ne is directl'

in ba"aar or in the shore market. And, another is dried out the 6sh

and bein$ sold as ‘;hutki’.

 The river and the hills combined a spectacular scene.

and 6shes.

(ed crabs are the most attractive creatures, here. Their

entire bod' is red and covered b' a hard shell. %t has ei$ht le$s.

!ut onl' si are for transportation and t#o in front are used as

#eapons. %t has a pair of lon$ antenna in front #ith a pair of ver'

sharp e'es. 7hen the move for#ard, the' look like mer$e for#ard

#ith a red arm'.

 The river ?o#s from the eastern side to #est at !a' of !en$al. The Naf (iver falls into the !a' of !en$al #ith a hi$h ?o#

of tide, makin$ a $reat #ave, keepin$ its promise to take the

#ater into the sea.

 Teknaf is a beautiful place of !an$ladesh. The natural

scenario is en9o'able and stupendous. The resources are #ell

estimated and the #eather is pleasant. Naf (iver sometimes $o

cra"' makin$ a hu$e #ave in monsoon but the vie# beside the

river is unbeaten. The people of the area are fun lovin$, pleasant

and hard #orkin$.
