The ini t ia l s belong to David Brown, the man who def ined what an Aston Mar t in should be and whose vision cont inues throughout the company to this day.

It was David Brown himself who had the idea for a luxury SUV in the 1950s. He even built a prototype years before anyone else; DBX remains t rue both to his name and vision of creat ing an Aston Mar t in for mult iple terrains.

It is an ambit ion brought to li fe in a brand new home for a brand new kind of Aston Mar t in. Our new fac tory at St Athan in Wales’ Vale of Glamorgan is a s tate-of-the-ar t facili t y, designed from the out set to build DBX.

for DBX, the design and propor t ions ref lec t the Aston Mar t in signature s t y le. That ’s why DBX is so sculptural,

The design language is so instant ly recognizable that even with the iconic wings badges removed, you would know

The inimitable Aston Mar t in grille was f ir s t seen on a DB2 protot ype in 1949 and today provides as dis t inc t ive and evocative a face for DBX a lifet ime later. It is integral to it s design, dic tat ing the muscular curvature of the hood and the way i t c lothes the might y power t rain.

Below the grille, the day t ime running light s have been separated from the main headlight s, adding to the car’s commanding presence. These dress two air inlet s that help cont rol the f low of air along the side of the car, maintaining aerodynamic balance and providing cooling to the massive, ult ra-high per formance braking system.

The dramatic shape of the doors provides DBX with an astonishing prof ile, emphasizing the unique sculpture of all modern Aston Mar t ins. At the back, the dis t inc t ive tail f l ip with it s s leek, signature LED light blade recalls instant ly the s tyling of Vantage, our archetypal hunter.

The beautiful forms of DBX have been tailored to enhance it s funct ion. Control of the air f low over the car is crucial; the shape of DBX ensures it is always carefully guided, keeping i t aerodynamically s t able, quiet and cool. The side vent s remove air from the front wheel arch to reduce drag , while the rear roof wing split s the air f low, providing aerodynamic downforce and driving air through the wing and onto the rear screen to maintain a clear rear window.

DBX si t s on an al l -new plat form designed by usexclusively for our SUV. Like all core Aston Mar t in

models, DBX is craf ted from aluminum that ’s bonded not just for immense streng th and st if fness but ultra-

lightweight too. The result is that despite lavish levels of equipment, it is one of the lightest full-sized SUVs

on the market today.

We never compromise on the engineering principles that govern the way al l our cars r ide and handle, and DBX

is no except ion. Like al l of our produc t ion spor t s and GT cars, DBX has a double wishbone front suspension

combined with a mult i - l ink rear axle, a s well a s elec t ronic adapt ive damping for ever y wheel.

The f irs t Aston Martin to use all-round triple chamber airsuspension, DBX delivers both out standing ride comfor t

and dynamic cont rol. The sys tem also al lows the r ide height to change by up to 3.74" from lowest to highes t set t ing , al lowing i t to be raised to negot iate dif f icult

terrain or lowered to provide easy access and loading.

DBX is equipped with active anti-roll control, a powerful48-volt system used to control body roll in corners. The

sys tem is so f lexible i t can uncouple the ant i- rol l bars, al lowing maximum axle ar t iculat ion and wheel t ravel to keep all wheels f irmly on the ground. Whether in

challenging on or of f- road condit ions, this al lows DBX to corner with almost no roll at al l.

The all new powertrain for DBX has been precisely and specif ical ly tuned to i t s unique role within

the Aston Mar t in family. The 4-li ter, twin-turbo V8 engine is built ent irely by hand. The base unit

is provided by technical supplier Mercedes-AMG, and As ton Mar t in power t rain engineer s have

created customized power and torque characteris t ics suited to the unique requirement s of an SUV.

DBX of fers an exhilarat ing 550 PS power output, backed by 700 NM of torque. That power i s

delivered over the widest possible range, focusing in par t icular on providing ins tant response at

engine speeds. Our engineers have worked to ensure that DBX carries the inimitable exhaust

note of an Aston Mar t in.

DBX is exceptionally versatile, with f ive preset chassis and power t rain modes. These range from a balanced

GT set t ing to a thril l ing Spor t+ mode. For mult i- terrain driving , two Terrain modes adjus t the suspension and all-wheel drive systems to suit whichever sur face you are on. In all cases, power is intelligent ly direc ted through our customized all -wheel drive sys tem. It is capable of direc t ing the engine’s power almost exclusively to the rear wheels for maximum driv ing dynamics, or up to 47 percent to the f ront wheels when the driv ing environment cal l s for maximum possible t rac t ion.

The sys tem incorporates an ac t ive center t rans fer ca se and an elec t ronic rear di f ferent ia l.

DBX may s i t appropriately low relat ive to some ful l - s ized SUVs; however, the space ef f ic iency of i t s unique bonded aluminum st ruc ture means there is no corresponding reduc t ion in headroom, in either the f ront or rear. We have opt imized the locat ion of the power t rain, freeing up legroom in both cabins. As a result , rear-seat passengers will f ind they enjoy a s much head and legroom as those in the f ront .

of the driver, the 12.3-in screen provides beautifully
