Bear Your Soul

Premise: Set approximately 100 years after the apocalypse, the remnants of the human race take shelter within underground settlements in order to escape the Hell on the surface. Small groups of humans still go out on excursion ns to the surface with the intention of reclaiming the surface, but this is a battle which the humans have yet to secure a single victory. After a demonic raid on the settlement takes the life of Daemon’s mother, he enlists within the last defence force of the human race; (Laminis libertas). Unknown to Daemon however, he has a forbidden connection to the Demon’s which could lead to his very life being taken, not by the Demon’s, but the human’s he has trusted since birth.

Chapter 1

CHAR: Daemon, age 12. Daemon walks through the streets of his settlement. He thinks to himself; how did the world end up like this, there has to be more to life than this, if only those monsters would just disappear.

DESC: (The settlement resembles a quarantine zone. No unauthorised personnel can get in or out.)

CHAR: Daemon admires the Laminis libertas. While picking up his families rations from the market, he notices that the excursion from the week before has finally returned. He rushes over to see his heroes return.

DESC: When he arrives, he struggles through crowds of people, only to see far fewer members than had originally left. Those that remained were covered in wounds, but those were nothing when compared to the picture on each of their faces. Despite this Daemon’s determination to reach the surface world only grew.

DESC: Once Daemon returns home, his mother begins to prepare dinner with the rations which Daemon had brought home. Daemon knew his mother wouldn’t be thrilled about the idea, but he made his intentions clear

VOC: “Mom, I want to join the Laminas Libertas corps!”

DESC: His mother suddenly stopped what she was doing, her face full of dread. She went berserk and near enough threatened Daemon not to join. She stated that he must stay away from the demons at any cost.

No mother was ever thrilled to hear their child wished to join the Laminas Libertas, but her reaction was still way over the top.

Daemon stormed off, but it wasn’t long before he realised that he would regret that decision.

Chapter 1 (Rewrite)

Char: Daemon, age 15 (Rewrite: 16). Daemon is having a nightmare of an event which happened five years back. He see’s images of demon’s invading his home and his mother. He awakens in a cold sweat.

Desc: Daemon’s walking down the street of humanities underground settlement, he speaks to himself. “It’s been one hundred years since the end of the world. I was told the people of that time never really took the idea of an apocalypse seriously and simply considered it a myth.. That myth has now become our reality.”

“The surface was taken, at that time; they say the world was ravaged by fire. Now all that remains is ash and the monsters which bathe within our ruin.”

“What was left of humanity took refuge underground in hopes of evading those creatures and for a while that was good enough.”

“However, the monsters weren’t satisfied with taking the surface, they desire to wipe out humanity altogether. We discovered this five years ago when they invaded one of our underground settlements. That’s the day I lost mom…”

At this moment Daemon bumps into Jack, his adoptive big brother. Jack is 18 (Rewrite: 21 years old) years old and is a member of the Laminis libertas corps. He has been a member for a year (Rewrite: Four Years) now and has already achieved an outstanding record.

Jack was a close friend of Daemon’s family and they grew up together. When Daemon lost his mom, it was Jack who took him in.

The Laminis libertas corps is humanities last stand, one of four corps which defends humanity. The Laminis Libertas directly confront the demons; they take excursions to the surface in hopes of discovering a sort of weakness within the Demons.

char: Jack Fidelis, age 18 (Rewrite: 21). “Hey bro, what’s with the deprived look on your face? Better widen that smile or this is going to get messy! (Rewrite: Jack sneaks up behind Daemon before shoving a roll of bread into his mouth.)

Jack shoves a roll of bread into Daemon’s mouth. Despite Jack’s role, he has an upbeat, and caring personality. Surviving for a whole year within the Laminas Libertas is a rare occurrence and since the Demon’s insurrection, humanity has yet to win a single battle. He has seen more of his companions die than most people, yet somehow he maintains his cheery attitude.

Daemon had made up his mind to join the Laminis Libertas. But he has yet to inform Jack, however Jack is already aware. the next day he begins his training. He will be trained along with his fellow candidates for a whole year before being deployed into action.

As Jack is walking away, Daemon throws the roll of bread at Jack’s head, shouting, Don’t go around shoving food in peoples faces.
