We’re here to help support you on your faith journey, so you can find

true peace, happiness, and purpose in life. If you would like to join one of

our parishes, contact any staff member, and we will be honored to

officially welcome you home!

New-member registration forms are also available in the church

entrances and on our website.

Please contact Deacon John in the parish office to schedule the baptism and the baptism preparation class.

Congratulations on your engagement! Please contact Fr. Reker at least 6

months in advance to begin preparation.

If you or a family member is homebound or in the hospital and would like a

pastoral visit, please notify the office.

Up until recently, if one closed the windows at night, it was because of the hot, muggy air outside and the desire for cool and dry air conditioning. Last week, for the first time in a long time, I closed the windows because I didn’t want to freeze overnight. A drive to Mapleton for the deanery meeting of priests confirmed the changing of seasons: the crops quickly changed colors and appear to be preparing themselves for harvest. Certain things “must” be done during the fall. Have you eaten your first new apples of the season (maybe even visited an orchard)? Perhaps you attended a football or soccer game on a beautiful autumn afternoon? Did you pick up any squash or pumpkins for the kitchen or fall decorating? There is one thing else that you “must” do this autumn: attend the Hubbell Harvest Fall Festival next Sunday, September 25

th!

An enthusiastic group of parishioners has been working hard to provide you with a few fun-filled hours on our campus. The best way to start the day’s activities is participating in the 10:30 am Mass. After Mass you can enjoy great food, live entertainment (with a surprise performer), kids’ games, hay rides and a raffle (or two or three). New this year: the bouncy obstacle course (for young and old alike) and a bean bag tournament. Of course, you will want to bid early and often (I call it the Chicago style) on the Silent Auction, especially if you like Italian food prepared by a German (-American) “shepherd.” Yes, we hope to raise some funds for the parish, but even more importantly is to strengthen our community spirit and have some fun together.

What could be better than attending the Hubbell Harvest Fall Festival? Working at the Festival. Volunteering as an individual, a couple or even a family doubles your fun by meeting more parishioners and getting to work with a few of them more closely. Remember the stanza from the Prayer of St. Francis of Assisi, “It is in giving that we receive.” More than one parishioner has told me that they started to feel more at home in the parish by getting actively involved. It’s not a huge commitment – only an hour or two in setting up, helping with an activity or cleaning up. And, if you’re a Vikings fan, the Men’s Club always makes sure that you can keep track of the game, too. (I checked the schedule and that “other team” plays at the same time and maybe there will be occasional updates for them, too. BTW, did you ever notice the similarity between “cheese head” and “headcheese”?) Please sign up this weekend, call the office or check online. I hope to see you next Sunday for some fall fun!

Sincerely in Christ,

P.S. Meanwhile, at Holy Family Church we continue to work on the new entrance project, “Open Wide the Doors.” Thanks to all who have pledged or contributed thus far! If you have not made your gift or pledge yet, please do so by next Sunday (so that we’re ready to present our proposal to the Diocese on September 28th). Call Gordy Kuznia or me if you have any questions or want our help.

Make sure to come and try out the new

attraction this year, a 65ft inflatable

obstacle course. Fun for all ages!

SJW HUBBELL HARVEST FESTIVAL

VOLUNTEERS STILL DESPERATELY NEEDED!

Volunteer sign-ups are located in the Parish Entrances. Families: sign up with your children to help in whatever area you choose for one shift, then spend the other half of the festival enjoying yourselves! There is something

for everyone from general set-up, to kitchen crew, to running a game. Donations are also needed for the Jar Raffle and Silent Auction. Drop off items in entrances or at the office. We thank you in advance, you make this

“fun”draiser possible!

Children’s Liturgy of the Work - Sunday’s at (HF) 8:30 am & (SJW) 10:30 Mass - it is a special part of the Sunday Masses. During the Liturgy of the Word portion of the Mass, children 4 years to 2nd grade are invited to come forward for a special blessing and then go listen to the readings in a different environ-ment and on a level that the children can better understand and enjoy. It is a wonderful way to assist our children in focusing on the meaning of the Sunday Liturgy. They return to their families after the General Intercessions to celebrate the Liturgy of the Eucharist with the entire community. There are several ways you can participate in Children’s Liturgy of the Work - as a Liturgy Leader, Liturgy Assistants, Music Leader or Time Keeper.

Training is provided for those who would like to volunteer.

All Volunteers must complete a background check form, attend a Virtues Training, and adhere to St. Joseph the Worker and Holy

Family’s Volunteer Code of Conduct.

For more information on how to volunteer, contact the Faith Formation office at [email protected] or call 507-388-3766
