Several years ago, doctors tried to wakeVerna Ledoux a ter a surgical procedure, but it was di icult. The experiencele t her shaken and ear ul o generalanesthesia. Later when she was diagnosedwith a prolapsed uter us and bladder, shechose to put o surgery or more thana year. Waiting meant Verna enduredgreat discom ort and made her toss andturn through many sleepless nights.

Verna inally turned to Dr. Tomas Antoniniat the Lone Star Urogynecology &Continence Center in Round Rock or help. His solution: the daVinci Surgical System. With daVinci, Dr. Antonini would per ormVernas pelvic reconstructive surgery and hysterectomythrough tiny incisions without cutting through layers o

muscle as in conventional sur gery. Smallerincisions meant less pain and scarring, and a quicker recovery time.

To Vernas amazement, her surgicalexperience was quick and painless. Shewas released a ter one night at SetonMedical Center Williamson. I was senthome with a prescription that I never

illed, she says. I never experienced anypain. I was not bedridden at any point.

Verna was soon back to a busy li e, doingthe things she enjoys mostgardening, cooking, walking, and dance workouts.Im so thank ul that my surgical

experience was quick and easy, she says. My discom ortis gone and I can sleep again.

When I frst metwith Dr. Antonini, Iwas nervous aboutanesthesia, says

Verna. But on themorning o my surgery,

he, the nurses andanesthesiologists camein to visit with me andput my mind at ease.
