ITEM 7 – FUNDRAISING

WOW, we are certainly busy this Term and especially this month of May. Firstly, thank you to Andrea Bowers and Christie McIver for the great coordination of the Mother’s Day stall on Thursday. They were certainly busy with many shoppers coming through. The Office ladies suggested that they let all those who have forgotten their money to still choose a gift to take home, the Ladies then took their name and class and gave them a friendly note home giving them the option to return or send money in. This worked well, in the fact that everyone got the opportunity to get something for their special woman in their lives. On Friday afternoon 90% had already come in and handing their money in. A rough estimate of $1500 was raised with the Mother’s Day stall. Suggestion at P&C: option for families to purchase via flexischools or to bring money on the day. Put to vote to also include flexi schools payment option. Passed unanimously. Discussion: We struggled with the time frame as the School band had rehearsals which they couldn’t set up earlier, which pushed the time back, which we then lost volunteers. Can we move the Father’s Day stall to a Friday this year?? Confirmed by band representative this is a once off with band and won’t be an issue for father’s day. Mother’s Day Breakfast was a wonderful morning, thank you to Jonathan and his team of Helpers who packed the 357 orders. It was a great morning and seeing all the children showing their classrooms off to their mums & friends. So, thank you to the teachers for opening up their classrooms. Discussion: feedback from Hannah Creelman that other schools have provided alternative foof options eg ham cheese crossiant to be added as a feed choice, and decorations (flowers wrapped around poles) a selfie frame, possibly a photo booth to bring more of a “special” feel to the morning Working Bee was held on Saturday, thank you to Steve Gibbons, Louise Scope, Peta Hanson and Tracey Plant who coordinated the working bee. They had a steady flow of families who helped move all the mulch and weeded the gardens around the library. Thank you to all who have helped tidy the already spectacular grounds we have.

ITEM 9 – CANTEEN

WHS – all good, no issues

Been brought to the attention that the occasional lunch order is going missing. Mrs Hason confirmed this has been discussed with teachers and allocated lunch monitors are pick up orders a couple of minutes before the lunch bell to minimise the issue

It was highlighted kids are bringing large notes to school, canteen is asking parents to be conscious of the amount given to kids, as the most items purchased over the counter are of low value. To minimise large notes at the canteen the process is as follows: When a note is received the canteen staff end the child to the office with all notes including and over $20 so parents are informed.

There is an increase of children who ‘don’t have lunch’. As a matter of course the canteen will inform the office so the child’s parent is notified and the canteen will provide only rice or a basic sandwich ie vegemite

Next meeting Wed 15 May 7.30pm in the Library Menu: New menu items have been launched including

Hot cheese roll – Monday and Friday’s

Beacon Burrito – replacing Nachos on Thursday’s

Frozen milk cups
