Cochin is an amalgamation of medieval Portugal, Holland and an English village grafted onto the tropical Malabar Coast. Enjoy a city tour covering Mattanchery Palace- gifted to the king of Cochin, by Portuguese in 1555, a 500 year old Jewish Synagogue, Chinese fishing nets and local spice markets, followed by colorful performing arts – a traditional Kathakali Dance. Later in the evening, return to the hotel for an overnight stay. Day 01 Arrival in Cochin Post breakfast, drive to Alleppey and board your houseboat on arrival. Alleppey, or the "Venice of the East" has a large network of backwater canals that meander through the town, surrounding villages and Vembanad Lake. Cruise through the beautiful and scenic backwaters of Kerala, while you enjoy the hospitality and unique experiences of the houseboat. You can enjoy a beautiful and romantic candle light dinner aboard the houseboat. Stay overnight on the houseboat. Day 02 Cochin – Alleppey (55 kms / approx. 1.5 hours) After breakfast, check-out from the houseboat and proceed to Kumarakom, a charming emerald peninsula jutting into the picturesque Vembanad Lake scattered with innumerable traditional country rafts, boats and canoes. The fresh water of the lake flows into the mainland, making a maze of lagoons, canals and waterways. Spend the rest of the day at beautiful resort of Kumarakom. Stay overnight at the backwater resort. Day 03 Alleppey – Kumarakom (30kms / approx. 1 hour) At Kumarakom visit the Kumarakom Bird Sanctuary spread across 14 acres. You can also indulge yourself with some Ayurveda treatments in your hotel. Ayurveda is the ancient healing system of India and has been practiced continuously for over 5,000 years.
