Wolf Canyon Weekly Kindergarten Newsletter - February 29, 2016 - Important Information! Raz-Kids: We see that many students are accessing the Raz-Kids reading program and we are so excited to see the progress that the students are making. Keep it up! For those of you who are still in Level aa, let’s get reading! The students should at least be in Level D at this time. By the end of the year in May they have to be in level F or higher. DREAMBOX : Dreambox is an online math program that our students will be using at school and as part of their homework. Your child’s teacher will send home a letter explaining how to log in. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED: Our annual chalk walk event is coming up on May 26 th . We need many volunteers for this event. If you would like to volunteer for this amazing experience, please let your child’s teacher know as soon as possible. We would need at least 6-8 volunteers per class. This event is an incredibly enjoyable event for our students, but we really cannot do it without the assistance of our parent volunteers. Thank you in advance. PARENT TEACHER CONFERENCES ::Parent teacher conferences will be coming up in the next few weeks. This is an opportunity to speak to your child’s teacher about any concerns you may have about your child. SNACKS: This is just a reminder that we have a very early lunch at 10:30 am. Many of the students are hungry at 1 pm when it is snack time and they say they do not have a snack. It might be a good idea to pack an extra piece of fruit, crackers or a juice box so the students are not so hungry by 1 pm. Curriculum Corner Mathematics We will continue to focus on subtraction and addition skills and how to show and explain our problem solving strategies and we will begin our unit on measurement. Social Studies We will begin our mini unit on maps. Language Arts We will learn a blend and a word family this week. The blend and word family below will be used in this week’s homework packet.
