Fashion tips Brought to you by Shekina Moore of SpeedyOutfitters.com

9. Hoops are classic and every fashionista has them in her arsenal. Scale hoops to the size of your face. Thinner hoops look best on fineboned, smaller faces as they don't overwhelm the size of the face. Medium to thick hoops compliment wide, full and/or strong face shapes.

8. Longer hems, just below the knee, are in for Fall 2010. The secret is to look for skirts that hit somewhere between right below the knee down to midcalf range – not a skirt that brushes the floor. This will help keep proportions in check.

10. Longwear lip color or gloss lasts even longer on smooth lips. You can exfoliate your lips by slowly, gently brushing them with a toothbrush. But... if that does not appeal to you, LUSH sells a lip scrub (i.e., Sweet Lips, Mint Julips); Or make your own lip scrub! Simply use olive oil and a dab of brown sugar to (emphasis) slowly, gently slough away. Either way, smooth is nice.

7. Invest in a nice, classic red lipstick. It is the goto pout that NEVER goes out of style.

6.get your faux furs ready! HOT< HOT< HOT for FALL 2010....

5. NEVER let your hair get in the way of your workout. You will always be 'more glad' that you worked your body. Look good and FEEL good, too. Get it, girl!

4. Always buy at least one new statement piece whenever you go somewhere. Once you're home, it's a reminder of the place you've been and always a treasure to wear because it has a story behind it.

3. Can you say boots? Yep. Finds from last season are on the racks during the summer... on SALE. Don't believe me? Stop by Nordstrom. I just saw your eyes get big..

2. OK, your wardrobe needs work. Start by ridding yourself of every outfit you simply do not feel good in. Life's too short to be waiting to lose those last 10 lbs you've been storing that outfit up for what.... the past five years?

1. Transform your spring/summer dresses to fall by layering a crewneck sweater or cardigan on top, adding a skinny belt, and trading up your sandals for pumps or booties.

ARE YOU READY FOR A MAKEOVER? Ashley Z.

Hello Readers of Be Inspired!

It is an honor to join this phenomenal team of writers and even a greater honor to serve you through the gift of writing. Thank you for taking the time out of your life to read the Be Beautiful! Section. I want to share with you my prep work. After pondering for years, I finally made a move. The week of the website launch I stepped into the Beauty Salon ready for a Makeover.

I thought about changing my hairstyle for years. I wanted to add some color and cut it into a fashionable style. My goal was to move away from the dreaded bun. Everyday has the same hairstyle, a ponytail folded under into a bun. As I walked into the Salon, I glanced at all of the pictures on the wall to help explain the look that I wanted to achieve. I already could envision the style in my mind, but I seemed to have trouble explaining the look. The beautician was excited, and even more excited that I wanted a makeover. She is committed to the hair industry for 12 years now, and she said that she just liked making people beautiful. Her master plans for my hair were adding color to the crown and give it a nice cut. I was intrigued on how she explained my cut. She said that she was going to manipulate my hair to train it to grow differently.

I laughed when I heard her use the word manipulate in reference to a hair cut! She began to explain that hair is capable of being trained. This concept of training, can be applied to other areas in life as well. It’s not much different from the way we train our minds to think. So, have you trained your mind? What do you think when your see yourself? Do you see a beautiful woman created by her wonderful Maker or has your mind been manipulated and trained to see something else?

I know my answers! I can go back to preschool and say that I trained and deceived my mind into believing that I was not beautiful. During my teen years, I relied on the media to define beauty. As I got older I allowed the reaction of men to define my beauty, and if we are all honest with ourselves, every lady at one time or another has compared herself with other women. You have compared yourself with another woman to define your beauty. These three elements as well as others shaped my mindset; in fact, they completely jacked up my thinking!

Ladies, I want you to be honest with yourself and to assess your answer to the following questions:

Are you FREE and AT PEACE with the way you look?

Have you allowed EVERYTHING except the WORD OF GOD to shape your thoughts about your beauty?

Well my Bonitas, get prepared because it is time for a Makeover!!!!

Q:I’m new to the workforce and need some career fashion tips. The top managers dress really nice at work (i.e. suits) everyone else dresses casual, as do I. But I find myself becoming insecure about how I dress. How can I step my game up without looking like I’m pressed or trying too hard?”

A: Never worry about what others think. Always dress for the job you want and not the job that you have. You already have the “it” factor—God’s glory—which is why you can reflect the image of Him. Walk in your authority. Once you do, you will have others asking what is it about her? Because you will stand out among your peers. And aren’t we a peculiar people, set apart? Those who think you’re “trying too hard” do not understand principles. Do everything in a spirit of excellence. When you sow in excellence, you reap in excellence. Standard Your hair should be done Above Standard your hair should be polished Standard you dress like those on your level Above Standard you dress like those on a higher level thus making the transition to the higher level seemingly due. 15: Keep your skin glowing! Don’t neglect the value of good old water. Drink plenty of it and watch as you transform into a radiant beauty.

14:Purge. Get rid of anything that you haven’t worn in a year. The summer season is over, so if you have gone an entire year without putting certain articles on , clear out some space for something new.

13: Spice up your wardrobe. A few accessories here and there can spice up the simplest of outfits. Live a little on the edge by throwing on a cute hat or some beads for your next outing.

12: Girl’s Night Out. Nothing says energy and rejuvenating like a gathering with the girls. Make time to get together with your positive gal pals and have a blast!

11: Pucker Up…Invest in some nice lip gloss and/or chapstick. As the weather cools down you don’t want to get caught outside with a bad case of the crusty lips.

Don't Worry, Be Happy ? Shade' Brunson

Matthew 6:2534

25 “Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they? 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature?

28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith?

31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 34 Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.

In the United States, we are currently going through what is called a recession. This term means a reduction in economic activity. People are losing their jobs, homes, and educations left and right. Well today, I am here to tell you, that you can make it and don’t have to be in the group of people that are losing things. You can make it and be abundantly blessed even through this recession. God has called you His. This means just as

the scripture says, he will take care of you. If he takes care of the animals and trees, why would he

leave you hanging? If he takes care of the birds, then he will care so much more for his own. We are created in his image aren’t we?

I just got back from visiting Liberty University earlier this week. I am looking forward to going to divinity school in the fall to become a chaplain. As I visited the school, everything seemed perfect. The campus was beautiful, the people were so polite, and you could tell the presence of God reigned there. It seemed like the perfect school. But then after finding out the costs of divinity school, and that most of the money will have to come from loans since it is graduate work, this perfect school didn’t seem so perfect anymore. I started worrying about financing graduate school and felt like my dream was suddenly about to fall. But before I could worry too long, God placed a scripture in my head. He gave me Matthew 6:2534. He asked me, is Liberty a place that you really want to go to? Is it a desire for you to be a Chaplain? I said yes. God then told me that whatever my heart desires he will give it to me. Since Liberty is a desire, He will finance it. He will make sure that I have the finances to succeed, and become a chaplain so that I can continue to build his kingdom on earth. So I know that if he will finance my school, I know that he will bless you in your finances as well. My area was school. Yours maybe school or it may not be. It may be a fear of losing a job or a home, or a fear of not being able to provide for yourself or your family. Whatever area it is, it can’t put a limit on God. Don’t worry about the economy. God created this world, and he created money as well. If he created it, he will disperse it properly to his children, and make sure that we flourish in this season. Have faith in him. Just continue to seek after his kingdom like verse 33 says and watch and see how God will bless you.

I pray that this message touched you. If you feel you need prayer over worrying and want to trust God more even in this economy, please pray this simple prayer.

Dear heavenly Father, I thank you for today. I thank you for who you are. I come to you asking that you please help me to stop worrying about things. You said in your word that you will take care of your own, and Lord, I am one of your own. I ask that you bless me, and help me to come up higher. I know that you will keep me. Even though the country is in a recession, I choose to not be in one, and allow it to affect me. I claim prosperity over my life. I claim that I will be blessed on my job, school, family, friends, and everything else. I pray that everywhere I go others can see you though me. I love you and thank you. In Jesus’ name Amen.

Q:"I am five months pregnant and even though I am starting to feel like a blimp I want to still dress nice. What tips do you know that I can use to still dress nice even though I have a growing midsection?"

A:

Women are so much harder on themselves than men are. I have a one year old, so I was where you are not so long ago. First of all, you are gorgeous pregnant and it only gets better as your belly blossoms.

However, there are times when you need a pickmeup because you are tempted to compare yourself to the "normal" you. One of the things I did was to take my fancy kneelength, Aline skirts (prepregnancy) and

make them double as fancy tube blouses. Essentially, the waist of your skirt becomes the top of your "blouse" by simply placing a thin belt over the bum. Pair your new "blouse" with prego skinny jeans or flared boot cuts! Trust it looks fab! Try to couple it with a shrug to cover your arms when you get cool. Another plus is to match your outfits with radiant skin. Flats are all the rave and are in so many fashion forward flavors! Have fun with them! Make them statement pieces when you want to show 'em what you're working with. For summer, think bronzer. Arbonne has an all natural version. You can also use minerals. I used vitamin E drops (sparingly) to give my chest area and shoulders radiance. Chunky jewelry such as bangles and large handbags also lend balance. Last, speak postively about yourself and accept compliments graciously. It will be the second thing people notice about you and what a powerful

witnessing tool of the blessing God has bestowed upon you. Congratulations!

10: Vacation here I come. Create a savings plan now to prepare for next summer so that you can have the vacation of a lifetime.

9: Get thrifty. Fall is the best time of the year to shop for …you guessed it! Summer!! This is the best time to get prepared for next year if you are into saving tons of money.

8: Seize the day. Are you in a rush to see the warm weather return? Can’t wait for Christmas? Well don’t rush life. Time is something you can never get back so make the most of each day that you are blessed to live.

7: Fall Cleaning? Who says that you can only clean in the spring? Get your house together by creating a room checklist. Take it one step at a time so that you don’t become overwhelmed (ex: Kitchen Tuesdays, Washroom Wednesdays etc.) Happy Cleaning!

6: Spread the Love. Make a point to let those that you are closest to know that they are loved. Find creative ways to make them feel special.

5: Keep up with the good work. Do you journal? If not you should start, if so keep it up. A journal is a great way to keep track of your accomplishments this season. In the spring you can look back and see how far you have come!

4:Dream big. As this fall season approaches remember to dream big. Don’t sell yourself short on your desires. Take some time to literally sit back and think about your hearts desires. (don’t forget to wake up and start working on them though!)

3: Talk less and learn more. While it is great to give advice , remember to take some time to soak in knowledge from those around you .

2: Network. Check out events coming to your area for the fall. And get out and Network, Network , Network. Meet new people , you never know who could be that missing link to your next big step.

1: Seek first the Kingdom of God. If you are relying on your own strength, your own knowledge, and your own ability to make things happen you are setting yourself up for failure. Take the opportunity to seek God first above all things in your life. Jesus died for us to have life, and to have it more abundantly. Whatever you may face, whatever you are trying to accomplish is not impossible if you trust God to make it happen!

Sure fire ways to Keep God first
