Due to the fact that Bettina Castaño has played cello since her youth, the fantastic opportunity of playing with one of the best cellists of our time, Thomas Demenga http://www.thomasdemenga.ch/, became reality. This man was the intendant at the Davos Festival. He has mastered the interpretation

of the Bach suites, which B. Castaño dances to. Here is a link::

This show was realised by Karel Boescoten (violin) http://www.karelboeschoten.com/, his son Alexander (piano) and B.Castaño. Classical Spanish and Eastern European music and Flamenco, if desired, will be played. Karel Boeschoten is intendant of the classical music festival Rüttihubeliade in Bern. Here are two

Cello: Factory meets B. CastañoThomas Demenga (www.thomasdemenga.ch), one of the most famous cello players of our time, plays his own compositions with three other cellists in addition to pieces composed by Brahms, Stravinsky and Bach, Ragtime, Charlston, Tango Argentino, Solea por Bulerias etc, which are interpreted by Bettina Castaño. In a professional interaction of dance and music, of tone and body, the boundaries between the profound instruments and the energetic lightness of the dance melt away. This programme is characterised by originality, perfection, expression as well as humour and sensitivity.

“Bettina Castaño’s flamenco in particular is an unbelievable mixture of expressive dance, choreographed drama, movement artistry and something similar to body percussion. It is by no means just the castanets which she uses to create additional tones to the music. In comparison to the slamming, lashing, stamping rhythm of her steps, classical step dance almost looks like a relaxing OAP hobby. She claps, taps and waves her fan too, hisses and scrapes with the tarnished shoes under her fantastic, ever-changing dresses – sometimes with a long train, sometimes with fringes, sometimes with frills.Bettina Castaño’s performance fulfils and tops every cliché of a racy temperament, passionate seduction and enchanting elegance. In the ‘fire dance of the jealous’, from a Manuel de Falla ballet, her raciness erupts in an almost volcanic manner. This art, this dancer can even express smooth gracefulness between rhythm and fire – pure body music. For example in a completely soloist contribution before a Fandango by Amadeo Vives and a Zarzuela interlude by Gerónimo Giménez – all younger contemporaries and stylistic successors of the definitive Albéniz.”

During the Tamburi Mundi Festival in 2013, Bettina Castaño performed in the Christuskirche with select members of the Freiburg Barock Orchestra: Hille Perl (gambe), Lee Santana (laute), Maria Ferré (barock guitar) and Michael Godard (serpent). The percussionists were Glen Velez, Pere Olivé Aymerich and Murat Coşkun.
