There’s a lot going on in your student’s life in the transition from elementary years to Junior High. They’re no longer little children, and they have a unique, God-given timetable for maturing into adolescence. Their responsibilities increase. They tackle more complex assignments. The study habits they establish now will serve them well into their adult years. They begin to make more independent choices. And for many, those choices include deeper commitments of faith.

While the pressures of our complex society loom large, there’s comfort in knowing that school can be a place where it’s safe to ask questions, take risks, and discover one’s gifts. Parents, be assured that our Junior High faculty and staff are here to help guide, support, challenge, and mentor your student during these pivotal years.

Your student will find:

• Solid preparation for the rigors of High School

• A place where Christian faith and character are valued

• Coursework designed to meet and exceed state standards

• Enrichment opportunities through Project Lead the Way

• Faculty who see teaching Junior High students as their calling

• Vibrant student life, including clubs, sports, and retreats

• Inspiration to move beyond their comfort zone

• Honors courses available by teacher recommendation

• Career exploration project in eighth grade

• Diverse elective and STEAM opportunities

• Emphasis on effective communication skills

• Productive avenues to challenge abundant energy

Wonder what SVC students do when they’re not in classes? We’re happy to report that they can choose from a diverse range of activities geared to stimulate, challenge, and inspire! Regardless of your child’s age or grade, they’ll have opportunities to discover their gifts, talents, and passions.

Attending a private Christian school doesn’t limit the options for students. Instead, you’ll find that it opens the door to a wider range of purposeful activities, which include missions and outreach activities where students begin to see themselves as part of God’s bigger picture in the world. This builds character and changes lives!

Be Your Best Self WE HELP STUDENTS FIND THEIR NICHE

ATHLETICS SVC is a perennially strong contender in the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF), Southern Section, fielding more than 30 teams in High School. Options include football, cross country, basketball, soccer, golf, volleyball, baseball, softball, swimming, and track and field. Additional non-conference club athletics include beach volleyball, equestrian, rugby, surfing, cheerleading and dance. While SVC coaches provide solid instruction in skills and strategy, they’re also godly mentors who teach and model Christian character and sportsmanship. And instructional leagues begin as early as fifth grade!

FINE ARTS From musicals to plays, from concerts to dance recitals, from art and media exhibits to backstage technical support, from Elementary School to High School, we offer diverse opportunities for creative exploration that will ignite your student’s imagination and self-expression. With four theatre productions each year and instruction by local and nationally recognized artists and performers, it’s no wonder than SVC boasts 100% student participation in fine arts!

CLUBS Discovering strengths, pursuing passions, creating strong community, and learning to serve — all of these are accomplished through the wide range of clubs at SVC. Elementary students can join after-school enrichment classes in art, chess, origami, and dance. Upper grade students take increasing levels of leadership in their extracurricular activities, many of which are service oriented. Examples like ToGetHer Freedom (ministry to girls rescued from human trafficking), Extra Life (fundraising for a local children’s hospital), or even a gaming club (Gamers for Good), demonstrate how SVC students can make friends and pursue interests in a positive way.
