Welcome to the 2015 Be-A-Star Program: Spotlight On Us
Bon Appétit Management Company has succeeded for over 28 years by keeping the focus on our customers and giving them our very best, every day. When a milestone year rolls around, it calls for a celebration of our company and our people. This year’s Be-A-Star theme, Spotlight On Us, centers on the inclusive word “Us.” It says that every employee is essential to our company’s growth and prosperity. We can all share the spotlight, and enjoy the rewards of the team approach that has helped us lead the industry for two decades.
The Be-A-Star program gives you goals that will help you be successful, while offering you the opportunity to be recognized for being the best. Star Achievements are tasks aligned with our company’s business objectives and other goals. The program consists of 3 Star periods, aligned with the first three quarters of the fiscal calendar. In the fourth quarter, results are tallied, and national winners are determined. Challenge yourself and your team to exceed expectations, and you may be among the winners!
You can access your program instructions, find support, upload submissions and claim Stars right here on the Be-A-Star website. We’ve done our best to make it simple and to give you links to everything you’ll need. Please help us keep it ‘green’ by completing and submitting all reports and forms electronically.

This year’s Be-A-Star theme puts the Spotlight On Us, the people behind the great food. We have an opportunity to celebrate teamwork, outstanding customer service and working safely. I welcome the chance to take a step back from our busy schedules and reflect on how much we all mean to each other.
Our individual success is inextricably linked the success of our co-workers and the company’s success depends on all of us. Bon Appétit Management Company’s reputation as an industry-leader is the collective result of what we all do each and every day. That certainly deserves the spotlight.

Three business goals and one employee recognition nomination.
You must complete two of the activities to receive credit for Star 1. Click on each item to see a full description and instructions.
Option 1 = Program Rollout: Focus on engagement by sharing the Be-A-Star program with your team. Get all your employees excited about participating on the Be-A-Star Program.
Option 2 = Client Partnership: As in previous years, share the Be-A-Star program with your client. Discuss how your account will get involved with the Be-A-Star program. Remember to mention that Be-A-Star helps meet our business goals while recognizing great employees in your account. Keep your client updated on your team’s progress and talk about your “Star” employees.
Option 3 = Employee Communication Board: Keeping your teams updated on Bon Appétit business is very important. Many of our accounts have great methods in communicating with employees to Spotlight information for the account. Now it’s time for your account to share these best practices with other accounts. Take a picture of your Employee Communication Board and give us details (i.e., how do you maintain your board, share your creative methods, newsletters, pictures, etc.).
Option 4 = Recognizing Great Employees: Meet with your staff and follow the criteria so you can nominate an employee who exceeds job expectations, provides consistent performance, and is an overall STAR.

Program Rollout & Launch
Your team should know all about the Be-A-Star 2015 “Spotlight On Us” Program. Make the launch simple but effective so your team is involved with Be-A-Star!
We recommend you reserve at least 15 minutes to have a “Be-A-Star Program Launch” that includes all of your employees at your account. Read Fedele’s letter and play the program launch video that is already provided on the program website. The goal here is to drive engagement and inform your teams about the program. We would like to hear and see how you will inform your teams about this year’s Be-A-Star program.
How to get credit:Get your teams excited with the 2015 Be-A-Star “Spotlight On Us” program rollout and launch. Gather your teams and use the tools available to get your teams excited about the program.

Our Bon Appétit accounts benefit from sharing best practices in our workplaces. Here is an opportunity for your account to share great communication through the Spotlight Employee Communication Board option. Tell us how you Spotlight communication to your teams to keep them informed on business updates. Utilize the Be-A-Star Program to show your program progress. Get your marketing people involved and start building your board to help communicate better at your account. We continue to seek great examples of account Employee Communication Board. The board should contain examples of good communication (newsletters, policy updates, employee recognition notes, etc.).

Spotlight on Food: Employee Recipe Submission
At Bon Appétit, we continue to have a Spotlight on Food through the Employee Recipe option. We continue to get great recipes from our accounts. These valued recipes are coming from traditional family recipes, diverse backgrounds and cultures, or something that was created there at the account as part of someone’s work experience. Continue to put the spotlight on these submissions and recognize an employee by making their recipe as part of the menu. Share how you will give the spotlight to that special dish. Dedicate a day for that employee’s submission in your café so your customers and clients can enjoy this special recipe. Have fun and tell your story!

The Purpose of Completing a Compass in the Community Star Achievement is… It demonstrates Compass Group’s value of responsibility in making positive contributions to the health and well-being of employees, customers, and the communities in which we work and live. Official rules
I. General Rules
Introduction: Compass Group (“Sponsor”) is sponsoring the Be-A-Star 2015 Program (“The Promotion”) for each of its companies — Bon Appétit, Canteen, Chartwells, Corporate Office, Eurest, Flik International Corp., Foodbuy, Morrison, and TouchPoint (“Companies”). The Promotion involves three “Stars.” Each Star consists of a series of activities and skill-based Achievements (“Action Items”). There are also three Special Awards. These general terms and conditions (“General Rules”) apply to all Achievements and Special Awards. In addition, each Achievement and Special Award may be subject to specific terms and conditions (“Action Items Rules” or “Special Award Rules,” respectively), as discussed below. The General Rules, Component Rules, and the Special Award Rules together form these Official Rules. The Promotion begins August 2014 and ends June 2015. The specific timing for each Achievement is set forth in the Achievement Rules. The timing for each Special Award is set forth in the Special Award Rules.
Eligibility: Must be 18 years old or older. Each participant must comply with all terms and conditions set forthin these Official Rules, and winning is contingent upon fulfilling all such requirements. Entries must be originalwork and must not have been previously published or have won any other award. Participants are eligible onlyif they are actively employed with the company at the time of award payout. Active participants will receivea prorated award based on the number of weeks worked in the eligible position. Vacation will be consideredweeks worked for the purpose of eligibility. If a participant’s employment with the company is terminated either voluntarily or involuntarily, or if a participant engages in conduct which gives rise to a suspension or some other form of disciplinary action, then notwithstanding any other provisions of the Be-A-Star Recognition Program, the participant shall automatically become ineligible to receive all or part of an award, subject to the sole and absolute discretion of Compass Group hereinafter known as the “Company,” to decide otherwise.
Prizes: Prizes, selection process, timing, and prize value details are set forth in the Achievement Rules andSpecial Award Rules. No substitution or transfer of prizes permitted except by Sponsor, who, in the event ofprize unavailability or any other reason, reserves the right to substitute any prize with another prize of equal orgreater value. All taxes, fees, and surcharges, and any other expenses not listed as included in a prize are the sole responsibility of the prize winners. Acceptance of a prize constitutes permission for Sponsor and its advertising and promotional agencies to use winner’s name and likeness for advertising and promotional purposes in any media without additional compensation unless prohibited by law. Decisions of Sponsor or judges grading submissions for any Achievement or Special Award are final and binding in all matters relating to the Promotion. In the event of a tie in any Achievement or Special Award that requires judging or evaluation, duplicate prizes will be awarded. For prizes exceeding $7500 in value, potential winners will be required to sign and return an Affidavit of Eligibility, Liability Release, and where lawful, a Publicity Release, within fourteen (14) days of notification.
