Architecture (1) Architecture (2)
Summary of main NM advantages for the end users (1)
One centralized db/server <> several independent db/servers
• All users can use the same displays, will see and share the full system acquired, computed or substituted information + notes/tags/..
• Harmonization of DB & business rules becomes a constraint but :
It will improve the quality of database/procedures It will make operators more interchangeable
• A user can work from any console (even remotely), what he will see or can do depends only from its own DB user rights.
• All users will share the same set of historical data & logbook (one common DWH db)
• Backup system for national control center is fully synchronized/consistent with Master system
All functional units (EMS, DWH, ELCOM/TASE2, PCU’s…) are redundant X 4 (Online/standby/synchronized/synchronized)
• robustness & availability increased
PAS, SCADA, DTS functions integrated in the same system (one common database)
• Same GUI tool (WS500) for using these functions• Same process displays (station/flow schemes, …) are
used to support these functions• Database always consistent between SCADA/PAS
(common network model)• No longer ELCOM link in between with risk of failure Test system available (with real time link) to test a
new DB before putting it into production (step included in DB population work flow)
A real Datawarehouse (UDW) with more reporting possibilities and interfaces developements perspectives (rich API’s library)
One replicated SCADA & DWH server + Web server • IS500 SCADA (limited) GUI application available on
intranet (with several functional improvements <> old WCS)

Set of std ABB displays (NMTAB) for displaying input and output data with functions such like AGC,PAS,ELCOM/TASE2,Control system,…) very detailed
Navigation in WS500 : Value select feature (display scada or PAS values) Zoom/layers/delcuttering functions are supported Overview window supported in zoom mode Advanced locate feature Dynamic functions keys Usefull Point information window (with up to 5
external keys available for each SCADA/PAS ID) Possible to apply different contexts (time select, DNC
mode, value select mode,..) in separated windows Possible to navigate through intranet WEB pages Possible to call an external application from a WS500
menu Possible to put a BMP/JPG in background of a
WS500 display. Auto filter of E&A lists based on navigation
Modern Look & feel of WS500 (GUI). WS500 is working under windows PC’s : Easier to exchange data with local PC (copy/past, save
file, export, …) Same navigation principles as in standard MDI windows
applications (minimize/maximize/… ) Possible to customize all toolbars/menus for the user Up to 6 24’ screens for an operator Powerfull tool “authority explorer” to manage user
rights for defining allowed operator actions and contents of event & alarms lists :
High granularity of allowed actions in WS500 Thousands of subsystems available (not only 9 zones !)
to define areas of responsabilities Possible to supervise and transfer roles between
operators Possible to define “MUST” roles Grid component “NMTAB” used in all tabular displays
(PAS, SCADA status lists, AGC, Control system, User defined displays….) very user friendly (sorting/filtering/exporting features…)
