LOLLY’S PLACE ANIMAL PLANET Reading Camp LEARNING TO LOVE LEARNING! By Ms. Gallagher JULY 5th, 2016 Students from Barbara C. Jordan Elementary were invited to participate in ANIMAL PLANET, a summer reading camp, designed by LOLLY’S PLACE AFTER-SCHOOL TUTORING PROGRAM. On the first day of camp, the campers: learned all about bats, baked homemade granola, and had their first reading session with one our reading specialists Ms. Annie! Did you know that bats help control the mosquito population by eating up many of those pesky insects? Ask your child to share with you what they have learned about bats and the other animals we have been learning about.

JULY 5th, 2016 !Students from Barbara C.

JULY 6th, 2016 !Today after breakfast, the campers went to play at the UUM playground. After enjoying the outdoors, the campers worked on vocabulary-building by writing their vocabulary words with shaving cream. This is a FUN, tactile, and inexpensive way to help children expand their vocabulary! Campers did some reading with Ms. Casey and Ms. G, and then went to the art room to do some painting. The children will be using their paintings to create animal collages similar to the works of artist Eric Carle. Check this out: http://www.eric-carle.com/home.html !
