The high resolution rear-projection modules support 3200 Kcolor temperature to match with thestudio lighting. They provide excellenton-camera performance with full Gen-Lock capability and offer wide viewingangles for maximum flexibility of cam-era positions. Hot-standby lamps pre-vent any image loss during broadcast.Sense6 technology measures andadjusts the color and brightness to pro-vide a constant uniformity.

Front access for confined spacesFor applications where space is limited,Barco offers video walls that can beserviced from the front and that requireno back room space at all. The videowalls’ high resolutions allow operatorsto sit close by andmonitor high-densityinformation. No content is lost during lamp service,lamps are hot-swappable without anysafety issues.

Several levels of redundancy can beoffered in case of video wall controllerfailure. This is specifically useful forvery critical data that can be brought tothe video wall by two independentways: through a backup video wall con-troller or by directly connecting thesources to a video wall module. Dualdigital inputs take video wall controllerinput in parallel with the video or RGBsources. In case of failure, the sourcescan be routed in parallel to the secondinput.

Truly seamless viewing Barco’s OV-D2 series offers operators atruly seamless viewing experience. TheOV-D2 projection screens make use ofBarco’s patented stitch concept, whichensures that no air gaps, bezels orscreen holders are present. Alternative-ly, Barco offers ZeroGap screens whichare 100% seamless and able to adaptto temperature changes. The combina-tion of high-precision lenses and finemirror adjustment offers operatorsexcellent image geometry and sharp-ness across the complete video wall.Additionally, high-quality screens con-serve the sharpness, and are perfectlysuited to present very high resolutions.

Streamlined video imagesTo ensure excellent video quality andsmooth movements, all display mod-ules come standard with GenLock capa-bility e.g. for synchronizing the refreshrate of the display with that of PAL orNTSC video. Always keeping the comfort of the operator in mind, Barco has

designed its OV-D2 video wall series with a combination of

state-of-the-art technology and in-depth knowledge of the

human vision. Luminance, on-screen contrast and color are all

optimized to maximally limit eye strain and adapt to the limita-

tions of the human eye.

High dynamic rangeA unique optical dimming concept pre-serves video wall contrast over timeand brings double the contrast values incomparison to Barco’s competitors.

True colorBarco’s new video wall series comeswith a wide gamut range spanning sev-eral of the widely used, internationalcolor standards. Within that color rangeevery color can be achieved within thelimitations of the eye. The standardcolor temperature is set to 6500 K,which is ergonomically best suited innormal daylight conditions or can be setto 3200 K for camera recording in stu-dios.

Optimized brightnessBarco’s video walls are designed topresent information in the mostergonomical way. To avoid eye strain,the luminance level of the video wall isat its best when it is matched with theluminance of a normal control roomenvironment. Barco’s OV-D2 video wall series builds on a revolutionary display

solution that offers operators the most razor sharp and life like

images available on a projection screen today. DLP is an innova-

tive display solution that uses an optical semi conductor to

manipulate light digitally. The result is maximum fidelity, with

images whose accuracy, brightness and color must be seen to

be believed.

The semiconductorAt the heart of every DLP projectionsystem is an optical semiconductorknown as the Digital MicromirrorDevice, or DMD chip. When a DMD chipis coordinated with a digital video orgraphic signal, a light source, and a pro-jection lens, its mirrors can reflect anall-digital image onto a screen. TheDMD and the electronics that surroundit are referred to as DLP technology.

The grayscale imageA DMD panel’s Micromirrors are mount-ed on tiny hinges that enable them totilt either toward the light source in aDLP projection system (ON) or awayfrom it (OFF) – creating a light or darkpixel on the projection surface. The bit-streamed image code entering thesemiconductor directs each mirror toswitch on and off up to several thou-sand times per second. When a mirrorremains on average longer in the onstate than in the off state, it introducesa light gray pixel. If the off state domi-nates, a dark gray pixel is projected.

This way, the mirrors in a DLP projectionsystem can reflect pixels in up to 1,024shades of gray to convert the video orgraphic signal entering the DMD into ahighly detailed grayscale image.

Adding colorThe white light generated by the lampin a DLP projection system passesthrough a color wheel as it travels tothe surface of the DMD panel. The colorwheel filters the light into red, green,and blue, from which a single -chip DLPprojection system can create at least16.7 million colors.

OV-D2 uses the latest DMD technologywith increased switching speed of themirrors to deliver better video perform-ance without contouring artifacts.

come with Sense6, a unique sensor tech-

nology that provides brightness and color stabil-

ity over time and across the entire display. The

unique Sense6 technology continuously measures bright-

ness and color characteristics and adjusts the color space to pro-

vide an image that is most convenient for the human eye. No

distracting luminance or color differences. No frequent mainte-

nance or manual adjustments. No impact on the wall content

whatsoever. Sense6 gives operators a sense of perfection with an

image accuracy and uniformity that is second to none.

Continuous color uniformity acrossthe entire video wallA true color sensor continuouslymeasures the color performance ofeach projection cube. The PrimaryColor Adjust algorithm matches allprojection cubes to the same color,based upon the sensor information.

This patented color feedback systemoperates in the background andadjusts the final color on-screen,compensating for tolerance differenceof the optical path and color wheel aswell as for color changes due to lampaging or insertion of new lamps.

Perfect grayscalesWhereas the color locking functionalitypreserves color and the brightnesslocking functionality preserves whiteand black , the Sense6 gray lockingfunctionality assures a consistentlinearity between white and black,regardless of lamp brightness, or lampage.

Brightness and color uniformityacross the cubeThanks to Barco’s renowned opticaldesign, the brightness and coloruniformity levels of the single OV-D2projection cubes are extremely highfrom center to edge, as well as in thecorners.

Continuous brightness uniformityacross the entire video wallWith Sense6 technology, operators areassured of luminance uniformity overtime and across the entire video wall.A brightness sensor continuouslymeasures the luminance characteristicsof the projection module. Thisbrightness information is used by theoptical dimmer functionality to adaptand match the luminance of all cubes.The optical dimmer allows contrastwith High Dynamic Range, whichmeans video wall contrast is twice thatof conventional systems. This makes itpossible to see elements with a lowbrightness level, e.g. shades or darkscenes in movies.

Compared to manyother technologies, DLP technologyshows absolutely no aging effects for alifetime of over 100,000 hours. Fromlamp to screen, all OV-D2 componentsare designed for maximum Mean-Time-Between-Failure. The complete OV-D2product line uses low-power, long-life-time UHP lamps, which have a higherefficiency than any other lamp technol-ogy available.

With a system that is designed for lowpower usage and heat dissipation, theOV-D2’s power and air-conditioning costis kept to a minimum. Severe in-housetesting at Barco’s dedicated reliabilitylab optimizes the OV-D2 for 24/7usage.

Intuitive installationThe OV-D2 display series has beendesigned for quick and intuitive installa-tion. The seamless screen is installed inminutes since no attention needs to bepaid to screen gaps. The video wallstructure has stable mechanics andincludes dedicated cable guides. Asmall LCD display shows status at aglance.

Easy maintenance for minimaldowntimeMaintenance should not be an obstaclefor your daily operations. In Barco’smaintenance philosophy, surprises andrandom interventions are avoided asmuch as possible by periodicallyplanned service schedules. The BarcoWall Control Manager software allowsfor a complete health status overviewof the system in the blink of an eye orallows the control of all projectioncubes through direct Ethernet connec-tion. All OV-D2 components aredesigned for low Mean-Time-To-Repair.The projection engine is split into a pro-jection unit, which is smaller and lighterthan the illumination unit.

A dust filter keeps the electronics and lamps clean. The lamp can be hot-swapped without image loss

and without opening the system.

The projection unit, containing the com-plete optical path is 100% sealed off tokeep dust out. A special heat exchangerbetween this clean area and the out-side world cools the DMD chip andhereby significantly extends its lifetime.

Built-in redundancy for highersecurityTo improve the uptime of your content,Barco has equipped its video walls withbuilt-in redundancy.

First, the standard redundant input withautoswitch ensures continuous contentavailability. Next, the redundant duallamp system brings great advantages interms of lamp servicing, since the sec-ond lamp automatically takes overupon lamp failure. Also, the exact samebrightness and color is achieved afterlamp change. This way, the swap canbe done virtually unnoticed and withoutadditional adjustment. The failed lampcan be replaced hot swappable, whilethe image remains displayed. Addition-al redundancy is provided by the colorwheel, which can be swapped in min-utes by a color wheel cartridge, withouthaving to remove the projection unit.

video walls, a software package that continuously supports

worry-free operation of your video wall. No more surprises, no

unplanned or distracting maintenance interventions. Barco Wall

Control Manager for video walls allows you to systematically

manage and configure the uniformity and health status of your

video wall fleet in an easy way.

The management of your videowall happens over the network All projectors have their own ip address,which Barco Wall Control Manager forvideo walls is able to access all at thesame time. By a single mouse click, youcan control and configure various prop-erties and features of the projectionmodules as well as of the entire videowall.

Brightness and color controlBarco Wall Control Manager for videowalls allows the configuration of thecommon brightness target, and com-mon color target of the entire videowall. Barco Wall Control Manager con-tinuously measures the projector’sbrightness and color performance andmakes corrections in case of drift.


Input controlBarco Wall Control Manager allows toswitch between active DVI inputs andto select a redundancy scenario in casean active input fails.

Lamp controlFor a smooth maintenance of yourvideo wall, Barco Wall Control Managerallows switching between active andbackup lamps in the entire wall, or for aselection of projectors.

Health statusBarco Wall Control Manager showshealth status on wall level up to projec-tor level.

Extensive reporting Barco Wall Control Manager for videowalls provides extensive reportingfunctionality, such as event logging incase of lamp failure, hot standbyenabling, projector switching, etc. Theproperties of projectors and lamps canalso be logged according to user-defined intervals.

Direct web accessSecond level maintenance can be per-formed by direct ethernet access toeach projector. Every projector has itsown web page and can be accessed bya standard web browser. Submenusinclude configuration settings andhealth status and allow direct control ofthe projector. Firmware can be upgrad-ed remotely and fast, which reducesmaintenance time.
