The completed LS5/9 is rigorously tested in
both our measurement lab and our dedicated
listening room. Provided they meet our quality
demands and the requirements of the BBC
specification, they are signed off prior to
packing and dispatch. Records of their objective
performance are stored for future support.
Each loudspeaker is enclosed within a
monogrammed soft cotton bag, which is then
placed into its own protective inner carton.
Matched pairs of these are encased within an
outer transit box ready for shipping.
After many years of research and development the BBC had developed some
exceptional loudspeakers, mixers and amplifiers which generally were for their
own use as no one could produce equipment capable of coming up to the high
standards of excellence that was demanded in house.
One such product was the LS5/9, which the BBC had developed and licensed out
for production. These were no longer being manufactured, and as long time
admirers of the legendary LS5/9, this was a situation that Graham Audio felt
compelled to address.
Graham Audio have over 20 years experience of working in the pro audio arena
and are extremely proud to be producing the LS5/9 s under license from the BBC
to their very exacting specifications and testing criteria. True to the original concept
with some carefully considered cosmetic and practical alterations, the new LS5/9
loudspeakers will greatly enhance any professional level high fidelity system,
providing accurate, transparent audio reproduction with exceptional build quality.

The LS5/9 Monitor Loudspeaker is manufactured under license from
the British Broadcasting Corporation and is built and tested in
accordance with their specifications.
The LS5/9 uses two drive units with a passive crossover and
equaliser. The tweeter is a proprietary soft-dome type as used in
the LS5/8 and the 200mm low frequency unit has a Diaphnatone
(polypropylene) diaphragm and high temperature voice coil. The
cabinet is vented with a volume of 28 litres.
The filter circuit includes low frequency equalisation for an
approximately flat free-field axial response over the range 50 Hz
to 16 kHz, with pre-set adjustment for drive unit sensitivities.
When driven at a nominal 50 W the LS5/9 generates maximum
sound levels in excess of 100 dB in a typical listening room.
