How It Works You can enter this year’s BBC Radio 2 Young Folk Award by completing the attached application form and sending it in, along with a recording of your performance. Please read carefully all the points in the 'How To Enter' section of this form. Ten successful entries will be invited to attend the Young Folk Award Weekend on 29–31 January 2016 in Kendal.You will spend the weekend meeting other performers and attending workshops led by professional musicians and organisers. There will be time for socialising and sessions too. Accommodation and food are provided and a contribution will be made towards entrants’ travel costs. On the Saturday evening there will be a concert open to the public, featuring a short performance from each act, from which a panel of judges will select four acts to become the nominees for the 2016 Young Folk Award. Those nominees will be invited to the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards ceremony in April 2016, where the winner will be announced. The Folk Awards will be broadcast live on BBC Radio 2. How To Enter1. All entrants should be UK residents aged between 16-21 years

on 4 December 2015. Proof of age may be requested.2. Employees of the BBC and Smooth Operations or their close

relatives or anyone connected with the contest are not eligibleto enter.

3. Solo performers, duos or groups can enter as long as they areall within the specified age range (in exceptional circumstances, ifjust one member of the group falls outside the age range, thismight be permitted. Please enquire).

4. Groups should consist of at least 3 performers and not morethan 6.

5. All performers must sign the entry form and send it to the emailor postal address below.

6. An individual can make a maximum of 2 entries provided 1entry is as part of a group and 1 entry is as a soloist or duo.

7. Entry forms must be accompanied by recordings lasting nolonger than 8 minutes in total. Mp3 via email is preferred, butCD by post is also acceptable. Recordings cannot be returned,so keep a copy.

8. The line-up on the recording must be the same as the line-upthat will attend later stages if invited, and THE RECORDINGMUST BE A REPRESENTATION OF A LIVE PERFORMANCE.Multi-tracked recordings featuring extra instruments ormusicians will not be accepted.

9. The selection of entrants to perform at later stages may besubject to appropriate licenses and school permissions beingobtained if applicable.

10. The live performance stages of the contest will be recorded forpossible transmission on the BBC or online. Entrants will bedeemed to have granted to the BBC, in respect of theirperformances, the irrevocable right and license to freereproduction and exhibition in all media (now known orhereafter created) throughout the world for the full period ofcopyright. The material chosen must therefore be suitable forbroadcast on BBC Radio 2.

11. The right is reserved to cancel the contest at any stage oramend any of the terms or details of the Prize if necessary.

12. Entry forms and recordings must arrive by the end of Friday 4December 2015.

13. Entrants selected to take part in the next stage will becontacted by email or post as soon as possible after the closingdate.

14. If a selected person is unable to be contacted on the emailaddress or address supplied, or is unable to attend the nextstage, the right is reserved to substitute a runner up.
