This Week in ALEKS with Mr. Simien
Classwork this Week: Students will complete individualized topics, assignments, earn their piece of the pie, and take assessments in www.Aleks.com program. After Reading classwork, students have approximately 35-40 minutes in class daily to work on weekly topic and time assignments. On an average, students are expected to work for two hours and learn at least 12 topics each week. The program is self-pacing, and therefore some students may need to work over two hours to master 12 topics this week. The assignments are as follows: Topics assigned weekly to assist in tailored needs of each student in each class. Students in Dyslexia Intervention will complete vocabulary and review with teacher and then work on ALEKS topics assigned to them. Students that are being serviced by HISD representative will go to the STEM room to receive their accommodations.
Test and Quizzes: Daily Do Now (DN), Independent Practice (IP), and Exit Tickets (ET) may be graded as classwork assignments (both accuracy and completion at teacher's discretion). A weekly quiz will be assessed for accuracy at the end of the academic week. Students will be assigned to work ALEKS the last half of class. They get both Reading and Math tutorials.
