Dear BACS Family, I hope that all of you had a chance to rest and reflect on the goodness of God and the obedience of Christ as the solemness of Good Friday and the triumph of the resurrection was emphasized on Easter weekend. What a special time to meditate on Isaiah 53:5, But He was pierced for our transgressions; He was crushed for our iniquities; upon Him was the chastisement that brought us peace, and with His wounds we are healed.Certainly this truth is highlighted during our time of remembrance each Easter. However, I am reminded that following Christ is cause for joy - unrivaled joy - each day. May you all find joy in Christ today and every day! Astonishingly, there are only seven weeks of school left in the 2014-15 school year! God has been so good to BACS and our families have shown tremendous support of our school and our most impressive students - thank you! I am elated to report that 95% of our students have enrolled for the 2015-16 school year. Remember that all families need to enroll in FACTS Tuition Management by May 1 in order to effectively satisfy activity fees, which solidify the re-enrollment spot reserved for your child(ren). We have waiting lists in Kindergarten, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th, 8th, and 9th grade, so please ensure you enroll in FACTS in time to satisfy activity fees so as to keep your spot secure. If youve not enrolled in FACTS, you may do so by following the link here https://online.factsmgt.com/ signin/4599P. As an incentive, all families enrolled in FACTS by April 25 will be eligible for a draw- ing for free activity fees and tuition discounts! BACS is giving away five free activity vouchers and two 50% single student tuition vouchers to those families randomly selected (only one prize per family). As a reminder, our Terra Nova 3 achievement testing begins April 14. Please ensure that your child gets plenty of sleep, eats a nutritious breakfast, and arrives at school on time. Also, it s a good idea to not overemphasize the test with your child. We encourage our faculty and staff to teach our curriculum, not a test. We want our students to perform well; however, this is an achievement test used to help us assess how our school is doing on several scales, not a promotional test. We are excited about the diagnostics of the TN3 which are available for our educational staff and for parents. Our divisional offices will communicate with you on how to most conveniently access your childs scores when we receive the results near the end of the school year. As you frequent campus, keep your eyes open for construction during the month of April! Things are starting to heat up in our Forward Initiative as roadwork is scheduled for the first dry spell we receive. With the achievement testing this week and subsequent scheduled updates in our Worship Center for painting, chair replacement, and lighting work, we wont be in chapel again until May 6 for our Fine Arts Chapel. While we will miss our chapel services during these few weeks, we are very excited about the improvements being made in the Worship Center through our churchs own Forward Initia- tive projects. Jr. High School News

Elementary School News

Congratulations to our BACS Jr. High Living Literature group that scored 98 out of 100 at the Texas Jr. Beta Convention. With that win, the group is travelling to Nashville in late June, 2015 to represent the state of Texas and BACS for the National Living Literature title. The group reenacted a scene from the book “When the Game Stands Tall – The Story of De La Salle Spartans and Football’s Longest Winning Streak” by Neil Hayes. The book later became a movie about Coach Bob Ladouceur, fellow coaches, and teammates and the 151-0 winning streak.

The BACS Living Literature group was honored to wear the actual and authentic De La Salle Spartans football uniforms used in the movie. Following their win at State, the De La Salle Spartans, along with Coach Lad, and movie star, Michael Chiklis tweeted about Bay Area Christian’s Jr. High Living Literature team. After hearing about the win, and seeing the tweet, the movie’s producer, David Zelon, from Mandalay Pictures and TriStar Pictures contacted Reene Bradshaw, and asked how they could step in and help with the National Jr. Beta competition in Nashville. David Zelon sent varsity letterman jackets to the group, along with Coach Lad’s real life glasses to lend more authenticity to the scene. The entire production crew from Mandalay Pictures and De La Salle Spartans are watching and waiting, and wishing the team the best at the National competition and cannot wait to hear the outcome.

Interestingly enough, Zelon said “the intrigue of this film was that Ladouceur placed little value on winning, instead focusing his players on giving a 'perfect effort' in life". SPWA president Steve Bersch noted that the themes in the film transcended sports and cinema: "At its core, this is a timeless and universal story about character, hard work and love". So…no matter win or lose at Nationals, this Living Literature group knows the value of just those core values.”

Terra Nova Achievement Testing for secondary will be on the mornings of April 15th, 16th and 17th. Please help your teen understand the importance of these tests, and encourage them to take them seriously. We send scores to colleges when they request all standardized tests, and we use them to determine if a student is a good fit for honors course work. As always, students should be well rested, have a good breakfast, and be on time to school. Seniors will have Senior Skip Day on Friday the 17th. Senior chapel is Wednesday, May 13th for any senior parents who want to make plans to attend. Chapel starts at 10:10 a.m. Student Council has planned Variety Dress Week for the week of April 20th – details will be passed out to students at school. The junior/senior prom is April 25th and the honor roll field trip is set for the 28th. Educating is serious business, but we hope our students like learning, enjoy school, and show school spirit by taking part in activities specially designed for them! We love what we do and appreciate you!

April Greetings, There is a positive relationship between happiness and student success. This happiness is not the short-term-based-on-circumstances-type of happiness, but the happiness which conveys a deep sense of purpose and an overall sense of well-being and belonging. One of the ways suggested to obtain this sense of happiness is to practice random acts of kindness. Our sixth grade has been working on this, and we have an opportunity as an elementary to practice this as well by blessing the refugees in Africa. We are partnering with Madison Dixon, one of our high school students, by collecting backpacks, closed-toed shoes, and water bottles. Many items have been donated already, and we will be collecting items until Friday, April 17. If you need more information, please contact our Elementary Office.

Greetings Bronco Nation,

The springtime is a busy time for the Broncos and Lady Broncos athletes who are competing in both team and individual sports. As April closes, out the Broncos will have their eye on more CHAMPIONSHIP banners.

Softball: The Lady Broncos are matur ing into shape as the fir st half of the distr ict comes to a close. The Lady Broncos have run ruled all but one of their district opponents and find themselves in a tie for first place with Galveston O’Connell. The Lady Broncos will travel to the island on the 11th for the first of two head to head match-ups with the Lady Bucs. Let’s get out and support the Lady Bron-cos as they seek a third consecutive State Tournament appearance.

Baseball: The Baseball Bunch has caught fire after a rugged up and down start to the season. The Bunch have won 6 straight and stand tied for the district lead. The Bunch will have a big showdown with defending district champion Logos Prep on 4/17 at home with a 4:30 first pitch. Logos edged the Broncos 2-1 in their first meeting.

Track and Field: It has been a difficult season to say the least. three of the meets have been cancelled due to rain. The tracksters were in action on 4/11 at the Logos Prep Relays as they seek to get ready for the District Championships that will be held at Tomball Rose-hill. Highlights this far have been stellar performances from the boys 4x100 and Lady Bronco jumpers Alex Lord and Randi Blackmon.

Tennis: The Bronco Tennis team continues to get stronger each season. The girls doubles team of Carli Capps and Erica May were within a point of securing a State berth. Keith Grumbles and Thomas Eckenrode are also alternates for State. Let’s get our youngsters on the court and continue to grow as a program.

Golf: Christina Erickson placed third at the Baytown Christian Invitational and should be on the short list to qualify for Regionals and State. The District Tournament will be at Quail Valley CC next week.

Lastly, we are proud to announce that after an intensive search, Donald Jones will serve as the next Head Football Coach at Bay Area Christian School effective immediately. Coach Jones br ings a wealth of exper ience and leadership ability that will enable the Broncos to remain among the elite programs in TAPPS Div-III. He came to BACS with a laudable resume with over 30 years of foot-ball coaching experience. Benchmarks along his career include a 27 year stint at Friendswood High School where he served as the De-fensive Coordinator under local legend, Coach Steve VanMeter. Coach Jones has also had tremendous influence as a track coach in the past, and he has continued that trend as he is helping coach track at BACS. We are excited about the next level of growth in the Bronco Football Program. Currently, Coach Jones is teaching History and Weightlifting. He is scheduled to continue this appointment as our junior high and high school strength and conditioning pro-gram is experiencing continuity and significant momentum. Please join us in welcoming Coach Jones as he brings a high level of commitment, expertise, and passion to our program. In His Service,
