EVERY pupil is important EVERY staff member is an asset EVERY parent is a partner From the Principal A CHALLENGING WEEK FOR ALL The past week has been very challenging for our students, families, staff, community members and the emergency services. What an incredible job the firefighters did in the area! A big THANK YOU from all of us. Yesterday was the first time we could have students outside to play and also start our swimming lessons during Physical Education due to improvements in the air quality. The CFA has been visiting each day with newsletters and to keep us informed of the situation (you will find these on our facebook page). We really appreciate this support. I would like to compliment our teachers on keeping a calm and positive demeanour in their classrooms during the last days, which have been quite long and challenging with children inside all day. Our students too were fantastic, making themselves busy and using lots of our indoor activities and games. All students should now be back at school and ready to join their grades. STUDENT LEADERSHIP ROLES Students will be informed of their roles on Friday (tomorrow) and badges presented at the assembly on Tuesday afternoon. It has been fantastic to have so many students nominate for these positions. As well as the grade 6 leadership positions, each grade will vote for a ‘Student Voice’ representative. They will be part of a team across the school to run activities, consult and make decisions on behalf of other students. ASSEMBLY The first assembly for the year will be held next Tuesday afternoon promptly at 2.50pm in the gym. As well as our normal awards we will be presenting the student leaders with their badges. Parents and friends are welcome. Please no food or drink in the gym. fantastic, making themselves busy and using lots of our indoor activities and games. All students should now be back at school and ready to join their grades. GYM We will be using the gym for assembly on Tuesday, even though it is not finished. It is safe to use but a portion of the gym will be fenced off and we ask parents attending with toddlers to supervise them at all times. PLEASE BE ON TIME It is really important that students arrive at school to begin the day on time. Missing even 15 minutes has a huge impact by the time they ‘link’ in with the grade and catch up on important instructions. Please model good habits by having your children at school on time. REMINDERS Any parents/visitors /contractors who come in to the school need to use the sign in book as per usual. There is now an added column which says you agree to abide by the Child Safe Standard requirements by ticking it. These will be sent home on Monday with some other documents and are also on the window next to the visitor’s book. Swimming- this year we will not be having parents at swimming sessions or helping with the changing. An Education support member has been allocated to each of the juniors swimming sessions to help with changing as needed. Mr McCormick will have a week at the end of each swimming term which will be a ‘Come and Watch’ session where parents will be able to see their children in action in the pool and celebrate their achievements. The pool is a ‘classroom’ for Mr Mc and we ask you to respect this for the safety of all children. Attendance- Children need to be accounted for each day for safety reasons. Please ring the office or log their absence on to Compass by 9.15 if children are sick. If not we are required to ring families to account for the absence. COMMUNICATION The newsletter, SeeSaw, Compass and our school Facebook page are our main means of communication. The newsletter comes out every Thursday. It is posted on to the school’s Facebook and is either sent home electronically or in hard copy to the eldest child in the family. SeeSaw is a free ap for your phone/device which you will receive a log in for. The class teacher will post information, reminders and photos that you can view. We can also send info such as what time an excursion/camp is back. Compass (parents will receive a log on for this also) is needed for parents to access reports, keeps a track of attendance and academic results. Facebook is open to community members as well as families and celebrates events at school (lots of photos) and reminders for upcoming events. We are happy to help you access these App’s – we need 100% of families on!

SCHOOL CONTRIBUTION/CSEF APPLICATIONS We are sending home statements with students today to those families who have not paid fees yet. The fees for this year are: Essential Items—$135.00 Swimming Levy—$85.00 per student. If you have a current Health Care Card you can apply for the CSEF (Camps, Sports & Excursions Fund) which gives each student $125 towards any of these activities. This money can be used for the swimming levy. If you are a Health Care Card holder you qualify for a $35 deduction from the Essential Items, making that amount $100 per student. (Please note that this deduction does not show on the statements yet. It will come off once the CSEF money is credited.)

We ask for the school fees to be paid by Friday 22nd February. If the swimming levy is not paid by this date your child will not be able to continue with the swimming program in March.
