Films must be available for screening during the Basin PBS 2017 Student Short Film Festival, November 11, 2017. Selection for screening will be determined no later than one month prior to the festival. Films should be 8 minutes or less. Open Midland County jr. high and high school students ages 12 – 18 (must email proof of enrollment from your school to [email protected]) and is FREE to enter. Filmmakers must be in jr. school or high school during time of production to be eligible. Graduating high school before the start of Basin PBS 2017 Student Short Film Festival does not disqualify any filmmaker. The Festival committee reserves the right to determine the eligibility of any project. To enter more than one film, you MUST use separate entry forms. Entry form postmark deadline: October 27, 2017 Films will be judged based on narrative strength, strong characters and filmmaking skill. Works in progress WILL NOT be accepted. All submitted materials become property of the Basin PBS 2017 Student Short Film Festival and cannot be returned. Basin PBS Student Short Film Festival reserves the right to copy any submitted material for Basin PBS 2017 Student Short Film Festival use only. Please do not send stills unless requested.

Selected films will receive four (4) badges to the Basin PBS 2017 Student Short Film Festival. These badges are intended for an accredited writer of the film and his/her legal guardian* and 2 additional guests. Basin PBS’ 2017 Student Short Film Festival appointed jury will award one film from each division the 2017 Student Short Filmmakers Award and one film from each division, Honorable Mention. Only one (1) award and one (1) honorable mention will be given per division. The winners will be notified prior to the festival held November 11, 2017. In addition to receiving four (4) badges to the Basin PBS 2017 Student Short Film Festival (for the filmmaker and a legal guardian*, plus 2 additional guests), the winning films will receive four (4) tickets to the Basin PBS 2017 Student Short Film Festival Awards Luncheon & Screening (Nov. 11, 2017). Winning and honorable mention entries will be aired on Basin PBS.

The Festival may require the winner to be present for/participate in press and promotional activities. In addition, the Festival may request actors and other participants in the Film to be present for/participate in press and promotional activities. An Entry must be the original work of the Entrant, and must not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, rights of privacy, publicity or other intellectual property or other rights of any person or entity. If an Entry contains any material or elements that are not owned by the Entrant, and/or which are subject to the rights of third parties, the Entrant is responsible for obtaining, prior to submitting such Entry, any and all releases and consents necessary to permit the use and exhibition of the Entry by the Festival in the manner set forth in these Terms, including, without limitation, name and likeness permissions from any person who appears in or is identifiable in the Entry, music licenses and location releases. The Festival reserves the right to request proof of these permissions in a form acceptable to the Festival from any entrant at any time. Failure to provide such proof may, if requested, render Entry null and void. By submitting an Entry, the Entrant warrants and represents that he/she and any persons appearing or who are identifiable in the Entry consent to the submission and use of the Entry in the Contest and to its use as otherwise set forth herein. Any Entry not in English must contain English subtitles. By submitting a Student Short Film Entry, each Entrant, and in the case of a Student Short Film Entry Team, each member of the team grants the Basin PBS Student Short Film Festival a nonexclusive license to use the Student Short Film Entry, or any part thereof, in all media in perpetuity. Each Entrant, and in the case of a Student Short Film Entry Team, each member of the team warrants that it or they holds or hold all applicable rights in the Student Short Film Entry to grant this license. For the avoidance of doubt, this includes the entire

Student Short Film Entry. Each Entrant, and in the case of a Student Short Film Entry Team, each member of the team acknowledges that, by granting the Basin PBS Student Short Film Festival this license, the Basin PBS Student Short Film Festival can use these entries in any marketing or promotional material in all media in perpetuity without liability to the entrant, including liability to compensate the entrant for their use. Any costs associated with entering the competition and accessing the website are the responsibility of the entrant. The Basin PBS Student Short Film Festival assumes no responsibility for, and each Entrant releases the Basin PBS Student Short Film Festival from responsibility for, any failure to receive and entry or for inaccurate information or for any loss, claim, damage or injury to person or property (including computer systems and servers) as a result of the entrant’s participation in this festival or the conduct of the festival staff generally or as a direct or indirect result of an entrant’s error, any technical problem of any kind including communications or network failure, unauthorized access to, transferring or theft of data, whether caused by the entrant or associated with the equipment or programming used in the conduct of this festival. If, because of any such problem, this festival is not able to be conducted as planned and/or the festival's administration, security, fairness or integrity are compromised or affected, the festival administration may disqualify any entrant involved in interfering or tampering with the conduct of this festival in any way. Any and all associated costs incurred by the category winners during the festival (including call costs, internet costs, travel) are to be paid by the category winners.
