The front kick is the basic technique for delivering a direct blow to the opponent‘s trunk or face. The attack is made

with the ball of the foot. The front kick motion forms basic mechanics for all front kicking learned in Tae Kwon Do.

Basic training for the front kick is consistent midsection kicking practice. The front kick motion is divided into three

stages. Tightly chambering, snapping and recovering. When attacking the face, the most important element of the

motion is a high tight tuck and powerful lift of the upper thigh. In Basic training it is important to first concentrate on

mastering proper form. Once the basic form can be correctly executed, power and speed are then added to the

motion.

The round house kick is the most widely and diversely used technique in sparring. It is initiated by quickly rotating the

upper body. The round house kick, like the front kick, can be divided into three stages. These are the initial rotation of the

shoulders and then the tuck of the knee, extension of the leg and recovering. Attacking the face with a round house kick

demands a high degree of strength and flexibility. The three stages of the round house kick can best be practiced using a

partner for support. It is recommended that some form of support be utilized until the basic form of the kick is acquired. The

fundamental motion of front and round are mechanically similar and once the basic execution has been mastered, a

number of variations of the angle of an attack can naturally be made depending on the demands of the technical or fighting

situation.

The side kick is one of the most widely recognized variations of taekwondo‘s kicking technique. The crucial elements of

the side kick motion are founded in the chambering of the knee, then the extension of the knee. It is important to

maintain a straight line with the heel of the foot from the floor to the target. In doing so, the maximum force of the kick

will be applied. Training for the side kick should begin with hip flexibility exercises.

Practicing for kicking technique requires a great deal of practice to acquire the fearful, delivering

and powerful accurate technique of all kicks. This includes practicing a combination of kicks with or

without partner. In this way the practitioner develops the ability to execute techniques with

confidence thus improving the ability to make the proper kick selection on the moving opponent

during sparring. Here are some examples of combinations kicks that you must study.

1. Front Kick followed by Front Kick

The axe kick is one of the unique skills

that develop through the taekwondo

training. Initial requirement in performing

the axe kick is the ability to lift the leg up

high in a quick and smooth fashion. The

axe kick is applied by striking the

opponent’s face with the bottom of the

foot on the downward motion. Needless

to say this technique demands you

maintain exceptional flexibility.

Turning Round House Kick

The turning round house kick is one of the variations of the round house kick. It is initiated by quickly one stepping

forward by turning your upper body opposite side of normal stepping forward. It is recommended that practice without

jumping motion. The fundamental motion of turning round house kick and round house kick are mechanically similar

and once the stepping turning round house kick has been mastered, a number of variations of the jumping of an attack

Jumping Front Kick

The Jumping front kick is the first jumping technique that you will learn for you r taekwondo career. Which is

delivering a direct blow to the opponent‘s face. Like front kick, the attack is made with the ball of the foot. when you

perform this technique, the most important element of the motion is a high tight tuck and powerful lift of the upper thigh

Jumping Side Kick

The Jumping Side Kick is the everyone’s favorite technique. It is also one of the most popular

demonstration kick as well. Initial requirement in performing the Jumping side kick is the ability

to jump high and far with lift the both leg up high in a quick and smooth motion. This

techniques require a high degree of hip and waist flexibility to be performed as well.

without partner. In this way the practitioner develops the ability to execute techniques with

The same principle, like the round house kick once again can be applies to this technique as well. The mechanics of the

front round house Kick is similar to those of the round house kick. The front round kick is used as a counter attack. Proper

technique with the front round house kick is achieved when the speed and power generated by rotation of the upper body is

transferred into the liner thrusting motion of the leg. Once an attack has been initiated the motion can not be easily changed

until it is completed, thus creating the potential for counter attack if the attack was perceived by your opponent in time. most

counter attacks naturally find ways to help sudden attacking techniques.

The Back Kick is the most powerful of all taekwondo kicking techniques. The mechanics of the Back Kick resemble

those of the side kick. The Back Kick is most frequently used as a counter attack. Proper technique with the back kick

is achieved when the speed and power generated by rotation of the upper body is transferred into the liner thrusting

motion of the leg.

The stepping round house kick is one of the most widely used technique in sparring. It is initiated by quickly stepping or

skipping forward with rear leg. It is recommended that practice the round house first until the basic form of the round house

kick is acquired. The fundamental motion of round house kick and stepping round house kick are mechanically similar and

once the basic execution has been mastered, a variations of the advancing motion can naturally be made depending on the

demands of the technical situation. It is also called skipping round house kick.

This kick is one of the variations of the side kick. The stepping side kick is initiated by quickly stepping or skipping forward

with rear leg. It is recommended that practice the side kick first until the basic form of the kick is acquired. The basic motion of

side kick, front foot side kick and stepping or skipping side kick are all mechanically similar and once the basic form of the side

kick has been mastered, a variations of the side kick of an attack can naturally be made depending on the demands of the

technical situation.
