STROLLING, SHOPPING AND EATING IN IN GRÀCIA
Gràcia is an ideal neighborhood to explore, go shopping and stroll in. Its narrow one-way streets and squares are filled with stores that stand out by their quality, originality, diversity and aesthetics. An ideal place to walk around after a full day of sightseeing around the city. An authentic neighbourhood with a local flavour, geared towards the local clientelle, with an excellent gastronomic and shopping offer.
4
Streets and squares that stand out
Although all streets are charming and filled with stores and restaurants, there are a few that stand out: these are Bonavista street, Asturias street, Gran de Gràcia street and Sèneca street. In the same way, I would like to point out four squares (plaça in Catalan) along with their surrounding streets: plaça de la Vila, plaça del Sol, plaça de la Revolució and plaça de la Virreina. Both the squares and their surrounding streets are filled with restaurants and stores, and while you walk from one another, you will pass by little streets filled with stores that will for sure catch your eye.
Gràcia’s food and grocery markets
Barcelona is a city of many food and grocery markets. There is one in each neighbourhood. La Boqueria and el mercat de Santa Caterina (both in the old part of town) are the most well knonw, although they are too filled with tourists and they have become a toursit attraction more than a place for villagers to do their shopping for food supplies. In Gràcia there are two markets, very authentic and geared 100% towards the local public: the mercat de la Llibertat, and the mercat de l’Abaceria. They are worth a visit during the morning time.
