    Faster the action, better it is;

Neighbour is always at a closer distance than the

nearest relative. Hence in case of need, one who isalways present at site can act in a faster way than

F& S personnel who wil l certainly take some time

    to reach the spot

Learn proper method of operation of F ire extinguishers.

Always use r ight type of Extinguisher/ Extinguishing media on

    fire.

Always keep safe distance from flames, whi le operating f ire

    extinguishers.

Agent should be continued applying even after the flames

extinguished, in order to allow time for cooling and to prevent

    re-ignition.

I f CO2/ Halon extinguisher is to be used in a conf ined area,

precautions should be taken so that people are not overcome

    because of lack of oxygen.

Dont get afraid-of sound produced by extinguisher (Special ly

    CO2 extinguisher).

Dont touch the discharge horn during operation of CO2

extinguisher, because it can became extremely cold.

Dont direct the initial discharge directly at burning surface

(Specially flammable liquids) at close range because the high

velocity of the stream may splash or scatter the burning mater ial.
