OCLAN SWITCH

Unit/Component introduction

SWITCH : ZXR10 T64GOEM : ZTE Corporation

Control Switching Board

The Control Switching Board (MCS) is the core of ZXR10 T64G, implementing the

functions of control module and switching module. It performs the function of

master/slave switchover.

Interfaces Available: Console Interface and 10/100 base TX Ethernet Interface.

Line Interface Cards

The Line Interface cards include Fast Ethernet Interface board, Gigabit Ethernet

Interface board and 10giga bit Ethernet board.10 GB Ethernet is not being used in

BSNL currently.

OCLAN Switches which becomes the Tier 2 component of the network resides in the

Access layer. OCLAN switches aggregate the number of DSLAMs in every OC cities

as required in the project.

Rack Layout

Note:

1. PDP should be fixed at the front side of Rack and should be at the TOP.

2. Between PDP and OCLAN Rack there should be 2U gap.

Power Cabling:

1. Power cable and Lugs for OCLAN is shipped along with the equipment and

connect it accordingly and on PDP side crimp the –ve with point type lug

and other two ( +ve and ground ) with round type.

Connecting to ZXR10 T64G

Via Console port:

Connect the PC’s serial port and OCLAN switch’s Console port in the Control

Switching module.

Note: Before Powering on, connect the Console and capture all the logs.

Goto All Programs

Accessories

Communications

HyperTerminal

And set the following parameters as shown after selecting the appropriate COM port.

Bits per sec : 115200Data bit : 8Parity : noneStop bit : 1Flow control : none

After successful connection establishment capture the logs:

Go to

Transfer

Capture text

In this specify the folder to which the file is to be stored.

Then power ON the system.

After capturing the first boot log you will be getting a prompt as follows

You will enter to the user mode now directly after successfully log intosystem

Prompt : ZXR10> In the User Mode, you may

View simple info Use ping command etc..

Input “enable” command to enter the privilege mode.

Password to enter privilege mode: zxr10

Prompt : ZXR10# The system parameters can be displayed and configured in Privilege

(Enable) Mode Relevant Commands

show running-config show ip route show interface

Input “configure terminal” command to enter the privilege mode.

Prompt : ZXR10(config)# You are able to implement system configuration in Global (Terminal)

CONFIGURATION TASKS

Set a username and password for Telnet Access.

ZXR100 (Config)#Username <name> password <password>

Username : bbmp

Password : bbmp123

Configure ip address of management port .

ZXR100(Config)# nvram mng-ip-address <ip address>

IP address: 192.168.1.1

Now OCLAN Switch is ready for access via telnet.

Setting TIME for the System

To set the system time use the command “clock set” in the enable

mode (privilege mode) as given below

ZXR100#clock set <hh:mm:ss>

Setting NAME for the System

To set the system name use the command “hostname” in global

configuration mode.

ZXR100(config)#hostname <system name>

System name to be given as per standard naming conventions as

follows.

AAA-BBB-ccccc-<ID>,

where AAA denotes the location code as per NIB Naming Scheme

BBB denotes the Device Type i.e. LSW

Ccccc (3-5 characters will be used) denotes the function type here it

is OCLAN- OCT2.

ID denotes integer ID ex: 01,02 .

For Ex : OCLAN Switch in Bangalore to be configured as

BGL-LSW-OCT2-01

FOR CONNECTION TO DSLAMS

Configure the respective ports using the above procedures for vlan-id creation,

Assigning of vlan-ids to the particular port, assigning of ip addresses etc.

Note: Primary GE link from OCLAN to DSLAM will be connected to SFP GE

ports available in the slot 5 of OCLAN.

Redundant GE link from OCLAN to DSLAM will be connected to SFP GE

ports available in slot 1 or slot 2(port 45 to 48 in both slot 1&2).

If the link to DSLAM is FE, primary link will be from slot 1(port 1 to 6) and

redundant link from slot 2(port 1 to 6).
