[the drinks]

Here at Barcode we love our drinks. If you are reading this we assume that you do to (if you’re not reading this then you really should). Don’t get too excited, everything in moderation guys! This is why the moderate amount

you drink, should be awesome!

We’ve included some amazing spirits that we think you should sample on your travels. While you’re out, experiment a little with your choice of drink, ask the bartender ‘what’s that bottle I can’t pronounce taste

like?’ Don’t be afraid, you will not be alone.

Life’s all about trying new things peeps, so what are you waiting for? Ask for the cocktail menu!

The drinks featured will be available in most, but possibly not all of the bars we feature. It’s all about

quality not quantity, so always drink responsibly.

Blavod Black Vodka

What is it? VodkaFrom? United KingdomHow much? £18.50 What with? Cranberry and Lime

They say:

Mark Dorman was working in San Francisco when he was offered a choice of 28 vodkas in a bar and he thought it would be a great idea to offer drinkers a black vodka. The colour of Blavod Pure Black Vodka is changed by adding catechu, a herb found in southern Asia and central and east Africa. Rich in tannin, catechu has no effect on vodka’s flavour. However, many say itmakes the vodka a little smoother.

SW4 London Dry Gin

What is it? Gin From? Clapham, North London How much? £18.00 What with? Lemon Twist Available from: The Good Spirit Company, 23 Bath Street www.thegoodspiritsco.com

They say:

According to The Financial Times, SW4 is “a creamy, fragrant gin that is good enough to drink on its own.” We wouldn’t disagree with that, and have even been known to keep a bottle in the freezer for just such a purpose. However, SW4 London Dry Gin is capable of so much more; flavours of sweet citrus and spice make for excellent G&T’s, of course, while our recipe of 12 botanicals delivers the depth, complexity, and fragrance essential for making classic and contemporary cocktails.

SW4 Gin was created by Charles Maxwell, who can boast a family tradition of distilling that stretches back 300 years. Today our Gin is distilled to the exacting legal standards demanded of the ‘London Dry’ style, with all the flavour coming from a maceration of the botanicals in the grain spirit prior to a final, single distillation through a small pot still.

Says Charles: “SW4 London Dry Gin is a big and complex gin made in the style of the original London Dry Gins of the mid to late 19th Century... SW4 has taken this heritage and using up to date small batch distillation techniques brings you the 21st century version of the classic original gin style.”

Booly Mardy’s opened in July 2003. It was instantly recognised as one of the best cocktail bars in the UK, winning best drinks selection and presentation in the UK from theme magazine.Originally named after the 1920’s cocktail the infamous Bloody Mary but a rival company bought the rights to trade under the name and hence our name was changed to Booly Mardy’s. From then Boolys has gone from strength to strength. With professional bartenders that take care of your every drinking whim whilst trying to hone our sixth sense.
