In 2008, we were asked to produce a limited edition of tables for Established & Sons LIMITED gallery in London. The project was called Iris.
Iris
![Page 16: Barber Osgerby Project Stories for the Design Museum](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052908/55948c991a28aba0408b4671/html5/thumbnails/16.jpg)
Our starting point is usually to make sketches and models of our work. For this project, however, the process started with colour studies...
Iris
![Page 17: Barber Osgerby Project Stories for the Design Museum](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052908/55948c991a28aba0408b4671/html5/thumbnails/17.jpg)
We decided on which colours to use by laying out the colour chips in sequence
Iris

We then went on to produce drawings on the computer to lay out the components of the tables
![Page 20: Barber Osgerby Project Stories for the Design Museum](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052908/55948c991a28aba0408b4671/html5/thumbnails/20.jpg)
Once we had decided on the design, individual, machined-aluminium sections were produced to make-up the tables.
Iris
![Page 21: Barber Osgerby Project Stories for the Design Museum](https://reader033.fdocuments.us/reader033/viewer/2022052908/55948c991a28aba0408b4671/html5/thumbnails/21.jpg)
The individual aluminium parts were then anodised to produce the different coloured sections of each table. This involves treating the metal then dying and sealing it - in much the same way as developing a photographic film with chemicals.
