The authentic interior of 1903 has been renovated. And don't miss the spiral staircase, which is among the most impressive in whole Europe.

A City in Wood Almost all cities are built of stone while wooden ones have always been a rarity. Surprisingly - Riga still is one. Safety and fire were only some reasons to choose other materials for building. Still people couldn't resist the charm of natural wood. But due to several historical reasons, thousands of wooden buildings can be found all around the city till nowadays. And some of them are extremely well preserved or accurately renovated. Most of these treasures are to be found in the Overdaugava district, which is hid away from the eyes or regular tourists. Today it hosts the so called “creative neighborhood” of Kalnciema street, and vintage bicycle and design shops create the right atmosphere.
