Verification and Rules (Overview)Verification and Rules (Overview)

• A System to Maximize the Accuracy of Data and Eliminate Errors

• Three Major Components:– Data Verification

– Document Adjudication

– Client Repair Queue

25

Verification and Rules (Overview)Verification and Rules (Overview)

Data Verification is a System to Weed Out Errors.

• Types of Errors:– Data Capture Errors

– Submission Errors

• How Does Data Verification Work?– System Analyzes Data from a Scanned Document Based on Pre-Set Rules:

• Rules are developed in close collaboration with customer.

• Rules must be developed in a manner that allows them to be coded, tested, andimplemented quickly

• Rules allow for dependable verification of data without the need to re-key information.

– Documents that Fail the Rules Are Passed to a Rule Repair Application.• Data Capture Errors: Forwarded to an Operator and Corrected

• Submission Errors: Forwarded to a Document Adjudication Queue

Page 14: Bank of America Libris Information Solutions

14

26

Verification and Rules (Overview)Verification and Rules (Overview)

Document Adjudication Is a System to Correct Submission Errors.

• Two Types of Submission Errors:– Errors the Operator Can Correct

– Errors Requiring Client Adjudication.

• How Does Document Adjudication Work?– Operator Corrects All Possible Errors

– Upon Correcting an Error, the System Verifies the Data to Ensure the Operator’sChange Is Appropriate.

– Once all errors are corrected and the document certified, it will flow through thenormal transmission process

– If Documents Have Errors Requiring Client Adjudication, They Are Routed to theCustomer Repair Queue.

27

Verification and Rules (Overview)Verification and Rules (Overview)

Customer Repair Queue is a System Allowing a Client to ResolveSubmission Errors.

• An operator at the client site has the ability to view document images

• Upon Correcting an Error, the System Verifies the Data to Ensure theOperator’s Change Is Appropriate.

• Once all errors are corrected and the document certified, it will flowthrough the normal transmission process

• If a Submission Errors Cannot Be Corrected, the Submitter Is Notifiedvia an Automated Notification Process.

Verification and Rules (Benefits)Verification and Rules (Benefits)

• Benefits of Verification and Rules Include:– Higher Data Accuracy

– Less Cost to Harvest Data

– Streamlined Process for Resolving Discrepancies

– Increases Data Quality, Usually without Customer Intervention

– Notification Capability Informs Submitters of Uncorrectable Submission Errors

Image Archive (Overview)Image Archive (Overview)

• Enhances customer service through fast single source archive

• Facilitates use of document images concurrently by multiple users andmultiple teams

• Exception data can be reviewed from source document quickly on-line

• Significantly reduces cost of retrieving aged paper documents

• Reduces paper storage cost

• Paper documents may be stored for a period of time

• Paper documents may be destroyed after images are verified
