Banglalink distributes recycled school bags
Banglalink has recently distributed recycled schoolbags among the students of Modern International School at Mohammedpur village at Chandnaish in Chittagong. Banglalink's Head of BTL and CSR Iftekhar Azam, Director of the school Ziauddin Adil, Director Rafiqul Islam, Director Ershaad Hasan Chowdhury, teacher Noton Dev Ray, school authority, and students were present at the bag distribution ceremony.

A joint trust set up by telecom operator Grameenphone and Bangla daily Prothom Alo recently distributed bundles of tins among the victims of the recent tornado in Brahmanbaria. A total of 100 families were provided with this aid.

BTCL slashes bandwidth price by TK 3,200
The state-owned Bangladesh Telecommunications Company Limited has reduced monthly leased rental bandwidth price by Tk 3,200 aimed at providing cheaper internet services to its subscribers. SOM Kolimullah, managing director of BTCL said that the decision will be effective from April 1.
Mobile users inch towards 10cr subscribers
The number of active mobile phone users neared 10-crore mark again in March as six mobile operators added 12.78 lakh subscribers in the month shrugging off the shock in the consequence of tight SIM registration process. Among the operators, Banglalink added 73 thousand subscribers in March taking the total subscribers to 2.59 crore.

Bangladesh to join in SASEC Information Highway Program

3G Auction: BTRC to appoint 2 individuals
The BTRC will appoint two individuals as consultants for conducting the 3G auction management as the five firms which applied for the consultant job failed to match commission’s criteria as per tender, said BTRC Director. The BTRC is going to call applications till May 20, for interested individuals to appoint a local consultant and an international consultant, he added.
BTRC takes initiative to reinstate PSTN, IP business
The BTRC has taken the initiative to revive the business opportunities for the Public switched telephone network (PSTN) and Internet Protocol (IP) telephones. Under a special package “differential baseline tariff”, the BTRC has reduced the interconnection charge for the PSTN and IP telephone operators, which they are to pay the cellular phone operators for using their connections. The PSTN and IP telephone operators will enjoy the special package till 2016, said a directive of the regulator.
