Beyonce

Beyonce is a solo artist who first released her album on June 20th 2003, she still continues to release albums. Beyoncé's music is generally R&B, but she also incorporates pop, soul and funk into her songs. The solo artists music is mainly aimed at teenagers from the age of 13 to middle aged adults of the age of 40. She has released way over 10 albums within the past 12 years which have all been aimed between a wide ranged age audiences. Looking at this picture the stereotypical view would be that she’s a solo artist whose music is aimed at an older audience. You may guess that she’s a pop artist through her clothing. However she focuses on a wider range of music genres and has successfully managed fulfil each genre of music used correctly.

1975 is a band which composes indie rock music. Their songs are aimed at teenagers and young adults. Their first album was released on September 2nd 2013 and was successful. Looking at their clothing you may guess that they’re indie/pop based band as their clothing is quite urban. However the colour of their hair is dark, which might lead to a stereotypical view of them being a rock genre based band.

Ed Sheeran is a pop artist and often does folk music, he is also known for rapping. However his main genre is pop and he does this through the use of an acoustic guitar. His music is enjoyed by many people from the ages of 12 to adults aged 40. He has sold many albums and a recent album ‘X’ was very successful. Looking at his picture you can tell that he plays acoustic guitar however you wouldn’t guess that his main genre is pop, you would guess that is folk. You wouldn’t think that he does R&B and you may think that his target audience is an older generation and that younger people wouldn’t enjoy his music.

21 pilots is a duet from Columbus whose target audience is mainly teenagers between the age of 15 to young adults of the age 24. Their music is alternative hip hop, indie , rock and electropop. Looking at the picture you may think that they are a quite happy, outgoing band however the message in their music is quite low and they talk about serious issues through the use of music. You probably wouldn’t guess that they are rock band as their clothing is more casual than rock, however you may guess they are a indie/ pop genre based duet.
