• The average height of an adult bald cypress ranges from 100-150 feet
• These trees are usually found near ponds, rivers, and lakes because these trees require a lot of water.
Trunk and Bark
• Bark is reddish brown, thin, and has vertical strips
• Trunk swollen at base
Leaves• Flat and needle-like• Light yellow-green color• During autumn, leaves turn brown and fall, which is why it is
deciduous
Easy way to remember
• Although a Bald Cypress looks like an evergreen, if you feel it, it will feel smooth like
a bald person’s head
