Agricultural Trade in Vietnam

Vietnam’s recent economic growth has been supported largely through trade,

Much of this trade is in the Agricultural sector

Page 16: "Balancing Environment and Growth" How WWF is changing to deal with threats posed

Agricultural Trade in Vietnamand the Greater Mekong Subregion

The delicate ecosystems of the Greater Mekong Region including Vietnam hold resources of especially high national and global value

These resources are under increasing threat from Habitat loss and unsustainable practices and some of this is as a result of the drive for more Agricultural Trade

Threats or Drivers of Biodiversity LossIn the Greater Mekong Sub-region

• Voracious trade in wildlife

• Unsustainable natural resource management

• Poorly-planned infrastructure development

• Agriculture

WWF GREATER MEKONG VISION

We envision a future whereby the function of natural

ecosystems, on which the quality of life depends, is

ensured by people whose daily actions support

biodiversity conservation and sustainable use of

renewable natural resources in the Greater

Mekong region.
