HL7 ReviewMessage Type• Unique identifier for the purpose of a message• (e.g., ADT = Patient Administration, ORU = Observation Result)
Message Event• Identifier to the context in which the message was generated• (e.g., A01 = Admit a Patient)
Segments• Contains one specific category of information• (e.g., PID = Patient Identifier)
Composites (“sequences” or “pieces”)• Individual data fields found within associated segments • (e.g., PID:18 = Patient Account Number)
2013 Midas+ User Symposium - 5 -
Supported Formats / Interface Types

• Midas+ can process files as soon as file is available on the server (preferred) or at a specific time of day
2013 Midas+ User Symposium - 7 -
Supported Data Elements
Any and ALL Data Elements• All Midas+ Care Management Modules
• Focus Study and User Form Definitions
• Document Attachmentso Reference = File on server and location referenced in message

Midas+ Interfaces - The Sky's The Limit!
22nd Annual Midas+ User Symposium - Tucson, Arizona - June 2-5, 2013 5
New Interface Offerings
CPMS / DataVision• Custom Core Measure Focus Studies (Data Files, HL7, or XML)
• Cost of Care Analytics (COCA)
Care Management• ReporTrack Document Conversion
• Worksheet Template Definition
• SmarTrack Indicator/Profile
2013 Midas+ User Symposium - 11 -
CPMS / DataVision Interfaces
Core Measure Focus Studies• Auto-populate Core Measure data elements• May incorporate User Fields in Core Focus Studies
Formats• Custom Flat File or HL7• XML (from CMS standards within NHQM manual)
Client Testimonial“The custom core focus interface Midas wrote for us has allowed us to interface emergency room times into our Core HOP ED and Core Emergency focus studies eliminating the need for an additional FTE to handle abstractions. Relieving the burden of abstraction of process time values has allowed us to focus more on improvement efforts and less time on the ‘grunt’ work of core measures.”
- Linda Justice, Manager Clinical Analytics – Spartanburg Regional Health Services

Midas+ Interfaces - The Sky's The Limit!
6 22nd Annual Midas+ User Symposium - Tucson, Arizona - June 2-5, 2013
CPMS / DataVision Interfaces
Core Measure Focus Studies (continued)
Client Testimonial“St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital was able to develop an interface/file load with the help of the excellent team at Midas+ that captures 100% of the data elements in the focus studies for Core ED; Core HOP ED and Core Immunization. The information is pulled from user define fields created in our EMR and is very easy to capture in a flat file. The process was simple and the outcomes were exactly what we had hoped to accomplish. The amount of manual abstraction time that we saved greatly outweighs the cost of the custom interface. We are extremely confident with the results that are being populated in the Core Focus Studies and still have all the functionality available to identify cases with OFIs and Data Quality Alerts. Without this interface, we would have needed to budget for additional Quality Management staff.”
- Trish Stephenson, QM Midas+ System Coordinator – St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital
2013 Midas+ User Symposium - 13 -
CPMS / DataVision Interfaces
Cost of Care Analytics (COCA) • Outlined in CDSS Quarterly Letter for Q3 2012
• Distributed Patient Cost Data Focus Study
• Marries clinical and financial data to support the future of data analytics
• For each clinical population, Geometric Costs will be calculated for defined Midas+ cost categories
