Bacteriophages, or phages, are viruses that kill bacteria. They are the most ubiquitous microorganisms on earth. Phages are found in the soil, water, all fresh foods we eat and in our bodies. Because of two remarkable characteristics, phages can be used to safely and gently control disease-causing bacteria in a variety of settings:

• Phages have very potent bactericidal activity against their targeted bacteria and

• they are also very specific: a given phage will kill strains or subgroup of strains (usually within the same bacterial species) without affecting other bacterial species or mammalian cells.

Phages are “Nature’s way” of controlling bacteria on this planet, and they have played and continue to play a critical role in maintaining (via a well- balanced predator-prey relationship) microbial balance in every ecosystem where bacteria are present.

Intralytix is using its core bacteriophage technology to develop novel natural products for use in food processing, environmental clean-up, sanitation, consumer products, and clinical settings: • Making the world’s supply of fresh foods safer to consume and by
