Bacon takes a bath

Dear Diary! This is Bacon checking in. You know, your favorite guinea pig! Today was special because I got to take a bath. I have never taken a bath before! Can you believe it?

My day started out fine. I woke up my human at 8 a.m. sharp. She tried to ignore me at first (as usual), but when it comes to my breakfast I’m relentless. I whistled as loud as I could until she gave in.

My breakfast consisted of dark leafy greens such as lettuce and parsley with cucumber. Oh, I love cucumbers so much!

After breakfast I took a nap. Had to let those cucumbers settle down in my stomach. When the weather is nice I get to go outside and roam the garden. However, it is winter now, so I spend the day wrapped under my soft, warm blankets.

Later my human approached me. I knew something was up because she had the carrier container in her hand. I tried to run away but she baited me with a carrot.

She carried me to the bathroom. There was a pink tub on the floor filled with water. Then she did the craziest thing! She tried to put me inside!

She massaged water and shampoo into my fur, which became damp and horrible. I tried to escape, but she pulled me back in!

I learned that I much prefer to drink water than bathe in it.

Finally, she rinsed the shampoo out of my fur and took me out of the tub to dry me. This was my favorite part because I was wrapped in a bunch of warm towels while being cuddled.

After I was completely dry she combed my fur until it was straight and shiny.

We played for a while, and then she put me back in my cage. I got a yoghurt drop and chopped up baby carrots for my troubles.I totally deserved it too, I only scratched her arms five times.

Being a guinea pig is hard work. I don’t know how I can take it sometimes...
