MASTERPIECEBARBERSHOP

By Caitlin LindseyBrace yourselves, ladies and

gentlemen, it’s here again. What’s here, you may ask?Fall season … and that bringsmany things: Halloween,Thanksgiving and … school.

So, again, brace yourselves. It’s time to shop for schoolsupplies.

Don’t think it’s going to beeasy this year, parents? Noworries, Target’s Back ToSchool section has all yourchild needs and wants. Theirwants, aside from not return-ing to school, is to have thecoolest, most fashionableschool supplies. How can youmake a pencil case fashion-able? You may be wondering.

Target: Making Back to Schoolsupply shopping a breeze

Well, I don’t know, but I doknow that Target has aplethora of different cases tochoose from.

Just a hint for you parentswho aren’t privy to what’sconsidered trendy. When itcomes to supplies, think of the1960s. Flowers and peacesigns are seen all over the BackTo School section. Is yourchild not too thrilled about thehippy scene? Not an issue -there are so many themes tochoose from.

For example, girls can gocrazy with Hello Kitty orMonster High. Boys, and evengirls, can go with an AngryBirds or Super Mario Bros.backpack and such. Also, there

is the much-loved co-ed choiceof Hunger Games folders andnotebooks. For fans, here’s anF.Y.I., The Hunger GamesDVD will be released August18! Also, the store will haveThe Hunger Games - TargetExclusive 3-Disc Deluxe Lim-ited Edition DVD.

Those of you who skate-board to school and alwaysget annoyed for having to lugyour board around, don’t needto worry about that anymore.Olympic snowboarder andprofessional skateboarderShaun White has a line ofbackpacks specifically forskateboards to attach. Whodoesn’t want a backpack/skateboard carrier? Even ifyou don’t have a board, thesebags are still very nice look-ing.

Back onto school supplies, the way to show your person-ality is no longer decking outlockers. Sure, it’s always im-portant to make a locker yourown with cool decorations andwallpaper, but the easiest wayto look fashionable is decorat-ing your binders. How? Binderbling. Yes, Target sells pack-

ets of theme stickers for yourbinders. They’ve got footballstickers, princess stickers and,my favorite, music notes. Theyeven have peace signs!

So, parents, what are youwaiting for? Head over to Tar-get and get your school shop-ping done. You can even getyour kids school clothes at Tar-

get; they always have the besttrends. You don’t even have toworry if your child has a uni-

form; Target’s got it covered.Hope everyone has a great

school year!

BACK TO SCHOOL (PART 1 OF 2)AUGUST 2, 2012 THE OBSERVER 15

By Rachel GalvinThis year’s Back To School fashion continues the trend

back to the 1980s. According to fashion stylist Lisa Cera, ofWilhemenia Creatives, looking to Brat Pack movies like“Pretty in Pink” and “Ferris Buehler’s Day Off” might givea good concept of some of the styles. But eye-popping colorswill reign, not pastels. Colors are still bright this fall, ratherthan being dark, muted or dull. Look for bright reds andblues.

This year, bomber jackets are big, she said. The must-havefashion piece is leather, either pants or preferably a leatherjacket.

Skinny jeans are still “on trend,” said Cera, but make sureto opt for pants that are more structured, rather than flouncy.Try high-waisted pants. Get rid of tights, she added. Bleached

jeans are another option. Although rarely seen in school, pencil skirts are also still in fashion.

Pair your bottoms with an off-the-shoulder shirt and youwill really rock your style. Tops are sheer or satin, or shinywith sequins. Vests are also making a comeback, as are longblazers.

When it comes to jewelry, opt for multiple layers ofnecklaces and bracelets. “It’s definitely about accessories,”she said.

For shoes, choose little ankle boots or knee-high boots.Nail colors, she believes, will transition into rich golds,

coppers and reds with more shine.Don’t have money to revamp your wardrobe? Try a

thrift store! You may find something retro chic, maybeeven that perfect leather jacket!
