BACHELOR’S DEGREE IN CONSTRUCTION MANAGEMENTThe Construction Management degree program at Sam Houston State University prepares you for an exciting career in the construction industry. The program is interdisciplinary with course requirements in business, construction, natural and applied sciences, design, architecture, and engineering technology. We focus on teaching integrated management techniques with innovative construction practices. After completing this degree program, you will possess competencies in problem-solving, utilizing time management to delegate and make timely decisions, communicating concisely in oral and written formats, and innovative and critical thinking.

Our cutting-edge laboratories provide you with hands-on experience in design, prototyping, and safety as well as metal, wood, and concrete construction for residential and commercial structures.

REQUIREMENTSStudents are required to complete an internship in their respective discipline of study prior to graduation. Students generally seek an approved internship experience at the end of their junior or senior year.

Minor: A minor is required for this degree program. Engineering technology students typically choose minors from program areas within the department, though some will select options from other colleges. Students should choose a minor that best suits their needs and interests.

INTERNSHIPSInternships may be arranged through student contact with providers or through departmental faculty and staff announcements and postings. All internships must receive departmental approval through application prior to the initiation of the internship. Maximum credit for an internship is six credit hours.

SCHOLARSHIPSOnce accepted, students may apply for relevant scholarships by completing the Scholarships4Kats online application. Transfer scholarships are available for students who would like to continue their academic career at Sam Houston.
