Baby Photography can be done in small spaces or large areas.

Your studio will be the actual set or the background.You can place the background almost anywhere!

You can arrange a set in a room or squeeze it in a tiny area.

The key to good baby photography is to keep it simple.Keep it about the baby.

Use fun props.

Choose your color themes.

Background StandsStands are great because you can use them as a backdrop or you can usethem as part of the background.

If you have a white wall, you can put the stand in front of it and hang colorful ribbons of the stand, holiday lights are also a good idea.

You can hang a beautiful wall-paper or have a child draw on some paper.

Let your imagination take you away.

The background stand will be the parameter of your studio!

Lets start looking at what we can do about tiny spaces.One thing is to buy large white boards and use them as your studio wall or background.On the following photo you will see it as a wall.

Photograph at eye level and eliminate the rug and other elements.

If your area is cluttered you can de-clutter by creating your white walls and ground with white boards.

The white boards will help reflect more light and brighten up your studio.

Buy large boards in Construction stores or use smaller white boards from art supply stores.

When you want to change the look of your studio you can add a wooden floor. This can be done in different ways.

I used wooden shelves here.

You can purchase vinyl flooring, the type that you can roll up and put away after a shoot.Or you can create a mini floor with different planks of wood.

Don’t forget to check out used construction supply stores and second hand shops. You might find some fabulous flooring or walls.

Fabrics will help you create wonderful studios.

The Sheet as a background.

This studio is made out of Ikea curtains. They can be used to hide all the clutter.

A shallow depth of field will make for a soft focus.The background will just be a nice blur.

I Like paper backgrounds because it makes everything look nice and it’s easier to control the quality of the background: No wrinkles!

Paper can be bought in rolls from a photo store. You can find some prettyawesome colors: purple, blues, greens and more.

These are the tools on this photograph:1 backdrop stand (photo store)1 roll of paperClamps (constructions shops and photo stores)Gaffer’s tape to hold down the paper so that it does not roll back up!

Those round objects are reflectors. I use them to brighten up the subject or the room.

Floor as a background. (Another studio option!)

A nice wooden floor can create a great look.

Colorful photo paper on the ground will make for a creative background.

You can create different studios in one studio.

This way you will be able to photograph with different and unique backgrounds.

I LOVE big soft bed covers as backgrounds for newborns and older babies. The fluffiness makes it seem like they are on a cloud.If you have a big white duvet, even better.

Create your studio near a window.

Here is a diagram that will help you place your boards and the baby.

I think that it’s best to place the baby at an angle from the window. You will have a nice light and it won’t be too strong on the baby’s face.

I love to use strobes with daylight. This technique creates a soft and natural light.
