RADIANT FLOOR HEATING: Radiant floor heat is most often installed at the time of construction, during a remodel or for a new addition. Radiant floor heat provides superior comfort by spreading heat more evenly throughout the home and can even be used to melt snow on walkways and driveways! HYDRONIC HEATING SYSTEMS: Hydronic heating systems circulate heated water throughout your home through copper or PEX tubing. Hydronic heating is helpful for people who suffer from allergies and is relatively easy to install. NATURAL GAS SPACE HEATERS: Space heating is a great alternative for garages, workrooms and basements. Space heaters can be mounted on a wall, to the floor or on baseboards for instantaneous heat wherever you need it. Gas fireplaces provide space heating, too! Natural gas is naturally colorless and odorless, but National Fuel adds a rotten egg smell so you will know if there is a leak. If you detect a faint smell of gas, check to see if you have a pilot light out or a burner that is not completely turned off. Then open windows and doors to ventilate. Do not attempt to re-light without ventilating the area first. If you smell a strong gas odor or are unable to detect the odor’s cause: DO: Leave the premises immediately. Call National Fuel’s emergency line,1-800-444-3130, from a different location. DON’T: Switch lights on or off. Light any matches. Other Important Winter Safety Tips: Do not store gasoline, paint thinner, aerosol cans, boxes or papers near your furnace or water heater. Have your chimney, appliances and heating equipment inspected every year, as blockages can lead to carbon monoxide buildup. Learn the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning, such as fatigue, coughing, headache, irregular breathing, dizziness, paleness, nausea and/or cherry-red lips or ears. If anyone in your home experiences these symptoms, open your windows and doors to ventilate your home. Move outside and call 911 or your fire department. Install a carbon monoxide detector and check it often to see if it is operating properly. Other Payment Assistance ProgramsBudget PlanFor many of our customers, having level and predictable monthly gas payments can make budgeting easier. Our Budget Plan lets you stabilize your monthly bill for up to 1 year. Sign up for the Budget Plan online at www.nationalfuelgas.com or call 1-800-365-3234.

Deferred Payment AgreementIf you anticipate a problem with making your payment, please call us. We may be able to negotiate an agreement with you to provide a payment plan on your account balance.

Neighbor For Neighbor Heat FundThis fund helps qualified customers prevent an energy emergency. To be eligible you must meet one of the following criteria: Be at least 55 years old, have a certified medical emergency, be disabled or be receiving unemployment benefits. Contact the Salvation Army at 716-883-9800, Ext. 230, or Catholic Charities at 716-856-4494. In Chautauqua County, contact the Salvation Army at 716-664-4108, Catholic Charities at 716-372-0101 (ask for Parish Outreach) or Chautauqua County Office For the Aging at 716-753-4471.

LICAAPIf you meet the HEAP income guidelines, you may also be eligible for LICAAP - National Fuel’s Low Income Customer Affordability Assistance Program. The program offers stable bills, reduced rates and debt forgiveness. You must be using National Fuel as your natural gas supplier to be eligible. Please call 1-800-365-3234 to begin the LICAAP application process.

Special ProtectionsNational Fuel offers special protections for customers

who reside in households where all residents are age 62 or older, 18 or younger, blind or disabled. If you, or anyone you know, fit this description, please call us at 1-800-365-3234. We also offer Third-Party Notification, so you can designate a third party to be notified in case you forget to pay your gas bills, and the Extra Security Plan for eligible customers who are retired or permanently

disabled, which includes coordinating bill due dates to coincide with the arrival of income checks.

Help With Your Gas Bills is Still Available!If you need help paying your heating bills, or know someone who does, HEAP can help. Applications are now being accepted. Funds are limited and will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis. Don’t delay, apply now. Grant amounts vary and will be provided only while HEAP funding remains available. Additional assistance may be available for those with heating emergencies. The maximum regular HEAP grant for customers who use natural gas to heat their homes is $400.
