It Begins With A Conversation

Volunteer Richmond Information Services (1972) Richmond Community Foundation (1990)

In April 2013, following three years of planning, we signed collaboration agreement to start working together to do more – for volunteers, donors, and the community.

Purpose of the Collaboration

Create operational efficiencies Limit the duplication of services Reduce costs Increase organizational capacity Broaden our community impact Lead by example

Collaboration in Action

Sharing office space

Sharing an Executive Director and staff resources

The Foundation maintains control of endowment funds, and is responsible for all decisions surrounding grants and scholarships

2013 Community Foundations of Canada Conference

Dominant Theme:

If organizations are to do more with what they have, they’ll need to rely on creativity, collaboration, and even “disruptive innovation.”

We knew we were on the right track!

Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives

In November 2013, we officially named our collaborative initiative

Richmond Cares, Richmond Gives

Our VisionRichmond Cares, Richmond Gives will encompass the work of both Volunteer Richmond and the Community Foundation, and serve as the centre for philanthropy in our community. It will be a physical and virtual space where people can donate volunteer time and financial resources to any organization in Richmond.
