BANGKOK(KLONG TOEY),THAILAND 03-Dec-2016

The Kingdom of Thailand is the only Southeast Asian nation never colonized by European powers; its very name means “land of the free.”

In the bustling, modern capital of Bangkok, traditional culture is ever apparent in the smiles of its gracious people, the eye-catching Buddhist temples that seem to be around every corner, and life along the canals, where the pace is slower, and a vanishing lifestyle can be observed.

Thai food is a not-to-be-missed delight, with tantalizing, multilayered tastes of sweet, salt, bitter, and spicy. And shop you must—for lovely arts and crafts, house wares, and vibrantly colored Thai silk.

KM01   Grand Palace and Venice of East

Prices: Duration:

Adult 147.00 / Child  88.25  EUR 8 hr(s)

Restrictions:

Minimum Age: 4 years old

Departure Times:

8:30 am

Start your day with a must-to-visit to the Grand Palace, situated on the Chao Phraya River, once the Royal Resident of the King of Siam. Within the compound is Wat Phra Kaeo, the chapel of the Emerald Buddha, which houses undoubtedly the world's most precious image of the Lord Buddha. Then, you will continue for lunch at the riverside restaurant. Afterwards, board a chartered motor launch for a journey into the canals and river tributaries that traverse this fascinating city. As you explore the area, you'll pass small homes built on stilts above the water and clustered along the river's edge. You will stop at the Royal Barges where the barges are fabulously ornamented boats that are used during Thai festivals and processions on the river. The King's barge is over 160 feet long and requires a crew of 50 oarsmen.

Continue on your motor launch with a stop at the Temple of Dawn (Wat Arun) whose 260 foot spire silhouette is often recognized as the symbol of Thailand. Built in the 18th century, the temple is dedicated to Aurna the Indian God of Dawn, and is built on the site of the palace of King Taksin. You will return by coach to the Klong Toey port. Stop at a gemstone & handicraft shop where you will find famous Thai silk & local products for souvenir before returning to the ship.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately 0.6 miles over uneven terrain and manage 25-30 steps. Comfortable shoes are recommended. The inner part of the Grand Palace will be closed on Saturday and Sunday; therefore, some areas, like the Throne Hall and the Coronation Hall may not be available for viewing.

There is a dress code at the temple. No sleeveless or collarless shirts/blouses, no see-through or tight blouses, no shorts (including Bermuda shorts), no tight trousers or miniskirts, no divided skirts. Feet must be fully enclosed, no sandals or slippers, men must wear socks. Shoes must be taken off when entering the chapel. Movie cameras and still cameras are permitted within the palace grounds but may not be used inside buildings.

The tour begins with a visit to Grand Palace, previously the residence of the Kings of Thailand. An architectural wonder of golden stupas, walls and pillars encrusted in shining and colorful mosaics, all gleaming under the tropical sun. Continue to visit one of the oldest temples in Bangkok to attend the "Monk Blessing" Ceremony where participants will present an offering to the monk. Return to the ship.

Note: The inner part of the Grand Palace will be closed on Saturday and Sunday. So the Throne Hall and the Coronation Hall may

The Palace is a collection of five traditional Thai-style houses including the "Lacquer Pavilion" which dates from the Ayutthaya period. The buildings are now home to a priceless Asian antique collection and exquisite wood carvings. The landscaped grounds are a peaceful oasis, the perfect retreat from the noise and bustle of Bangkok. The tour is completed with a visit to the private Thai-style house of Jim Thompson, the "father" of the famous Thai silk industry. The house now survives as a museum after the mysterious disappearance of the legendary Mr. Thompson in Malaysia. Follow by witnessing the vicious styles of Thai boxing, which utilizes almost every part of the body to fend off an opponent, is what makes the sport unique from world boxing. Boxers are allowed to punch, kick, shove, and push by using their feet, legs, fists, knees, and elbows to attack the opponent above, as well as below the waist.

Before the start of any match, each boxer performs a pre-fight ceremony to honor and show respect for their trainers, religion, and the sport itself. The ceremony involves a special kind of dance, accompanied by strident Thai boxing music, and the shouts of gamblers in the stands, betting on the outcome.  En route a shopping stop will be made at famed Pat Pong Night Market. Note: The Pat Pong Night Market is actually two roads in downtown Bangkok. It is the center of Bangkok's night life and contains over 100 bars. It became popular during the Vietnam War when many American GI's went there for leave. Keep in mind that you may be faced with views that could be considered shocking and guests should take this into account when purchasing this tour.

Originating in the 13th century, this ancient water prayer is usually celebrated under a full moon, con-sidered an auspicious time for letting go and allowing closure. Decorated baskets are deployed into the river and left to float where they may. Their natural course symbolizes the importance of releasing the past, accepting the present and flowing with life’s abundant offerings of joy. BANGKOK(KLONG TOEY),THAILAND 04-Dec-2016

HO CHI MINH CITY, VIETNAM 06-Dec-2016

This city, still familiarly referred to as Saigon by many, has an infectious energy all its own. You can feel the buzz generated by the mass of motorbikes and scooters that have all but replaced the traditional cycle rickshaw called a cyclo, and in nightclubs with names like Apocalypse Now that don’t really get hopping until midnight.

French colonial architecture mixes with modern and Asian influences, and many fine old houses have become trendy restaurants serving up fine Vietnamese cuisine.

One or two of the colorful pagodas, heavy with the scent of incense burned to bring good fortune, and the huge Ben Thanh market, crammed with everything under the sun, are definitely worth a visit.

Departure Times:

12:30 pm, 12:40 pm, 12:45 pm

This tour introduces the major highlights of bustling Ho Chi Minh City, still commonly referred to as Saigon. Amongst the grand old buildings such as the "wedding cake" style Hotel d'Ville and the historic Rex hotel, you will see colorful markets selling everything from chilies to French baguettes and, of course, an endless stream of bicycles, cycles and motorbikes.

The former Presidential Palace is now known as Unification Hall. This historic building was made famous when a North Vietnamese tank crashed through its front gates on April 30, 1975, signaling the end of the Vietnam War. It has changed little since that time and is now retained as a Museum. Your tour will include the reception and dining rooms of the President's quarters, and the basement, with its ancient American made telecommunications equipment still in place, and strategic military maps lining the walls.

A short drive further takes you to the History Museum. Built in 1929, this museum houses an excellent collection of artifacts illustrating the evolution of the cultures of Vietnam, from bronze aged Dong Son civilization to Cham, Khmer and modern day Vietnam. On the grounds of the museum, you will have the opportunity to see a short performance of traditional water puppetry, a unique art form that was once staged as entertainment for the kings and emperors of a bygone era.

A photo stop is included at the Notre Dame Cathedral, a neo-classical structure dating back to the 19th century. The imposing twin spires have long heralded arrival in Saigon to passenger liners that travel the winding Saigon River from its mouth.

From central Saigon, the tour continues into the heart of Cholon, literally "big market" and more commonly known as Chinatown. With its crowded streets and shop houses, the names are certainly appropriate! The streets are full of life and color, with bargaining being conducted at numerous street stalls, and hundreds of hidden temples, shrines and pagodas.

Visit the Thien Hau Temple, dedicated to the Goddess Protector of Sailors, which dates to the late 18th century. The smell of incense hangs heavy in the air, with huge burning spirals suspended from the ceiling. Ceramic figurines and a scale model boat commemorate the arrival of the first Chinese from Canton, and interesting ceramic friezes line the roof of the inner courtyard. Enjoy a short stop at the lacquer work shop before returning by motor coach to the port.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately up to a mile over uneven terrain. Comfortable shoes are recommended.

This tour focuses on the ingenuity and resilience of the Vietnamese fighters who both lived and fought from underground tunnels. Originally constructed as a means to fight against the French by the Viet Minh, the tunnels were later expanded up to 12 meters below ground in hard soil using only rudimentary tools. Most tunnels were only 2.0 - 2.5 feet wide, and 5 feet high, with thick roofs capable of withstanding the weight of tanks or the impact of bombs weighing up to 220 pounds.

En-route to Cu Chi, the busy road passes through tranquil rice paddies, where entrepreneurial villagers use the hot roadside as a platform for drying all manner of produce.

On arrival at Cu Chi, a short video traces the history of the tunnels, their origins, construction and design. A military guide will explain with the use of dioramas the underground network, and display some of the tools and weapons utilized by the guerrillas. A photo stop will be made near the tunnels where your guide will explain the process of rice paper production. Hundreds of sheets dot the countryside, drying on woven racks in the relentless sun (dependent on time of day).

Much of the tunnel complex has been open and ventilated so that you can more easily experience the underground meeting rooms, kitchens, hospital and sleeping areas. More adventurous and agile tunnell explorers can experience an unlit passage, which has not been enlarged for the comfort of visitors! You will be tested to find the hidden tunnels entrances and be given insight into the ingenious methods that the Vietnamese soldiers employed to remain undetected and frustrate their enemies. Refreshments and souvenirs are available in the nearby parking area, which also displays some military paraphernalia.

Until the 16th Century the Mekong Delta was an area of marshland and forest. Gradually the marshland was reclaimed and a canal network built so that today, people can make a reasonable living from rice, fish, soybeans, maize, peanuts, tobacco, melons, etc. The My Tho area is famous for its coconut palms and fruit orchards (mangoes, longans, bananas and citrus fruits).

The two hour drive (with photo stops) out of Ho Chi Minh City to My Tho takes you through miles of flat rice fields, along a bustling highway busy with bicycles and oxcarts heading to and from market. Passing through small villages, you will see firsthand country life - rice threshing and milling, vegetables drying on the flat hot roadside, children caring for their water buffalo.

Upon arrival in the quaint provincial town, board a boat for the highlight of the day - a trip on the Mekong River. You will see all manner of boats - from dug out canoes to barges and houseboats to passenger ferries. Many of the wooden boats have an unusual "eye" painted on their bows to frighten off evil underwater spirits.

Your boat trip will take you through a maze of small canals where you will witness the everyday lives of the river dwellers, and on to one of the many islands in the Delta, where you will visit the traditional home of a fruit farmer, and have the opportunity to sample exotic tropical fruits.

Lunch will be at Mekong Rest Stop Restaurant, where the specialty is fried fish and vegetable wrapped in rice paper with spicy sauce.

Note: Guests must be able to walk approximately up to a mile over uneven terrain and few steps. Comfortable shoes are recommended.

HONG KONG, CHINA 10-Dec-2016

Hong Kong is neon lights, endless shopping opportunities from street markets to high-end malls, and an unbelievably diverse array of skyscrapers, all designed with the essential input of the feng shui man.

On Hong Kong Island they seem to sprout like weeds, built on landfill because of the lack of level real estate. Look down it all from The Peak, with spectacular views over the city, harbor, and mountains beyond.

And do save time for a delicious Dim Sum breakfast or lunch, a mouthwatering selection of savory snacks served in bamboo baskets, and washed down with Chinese tea.

HQ20   Hong Kong Island Highlights Tour - Airport Drop-Off

Prices:

Adult 102.50 / Child  102.50  EUR

Duration:

4 hr(s) 45 min(s)

Restrictions:

N/A

Departure Times:

9:00 am

The tour begins with a tram ride to Victoria Peak for a 360-degree view of the city, harbour, and islands that has mesmerized visitors and inspired photographers since the tramway opened in 1888.

Your coach awaits you at the Peak and transports you to your next destination.

Pass by the lovely Repulse Bay en route to Stanley. In Repulse Bay, one building of particular interest is a glistening new glass high-rise that features a cutout in the middle. In keeping with good Feng Shui, the cutout allows the dragon an unobstructed journey from the hill should he need to drink from the bay.

Continue to the popular outdoor shopping market known as Stanley Market. Good bargains at Stanley Market are designer goods and factory outlet clothing, brassware, porcelains, leather goods and souvenirs such as chops, silk shorts, and jade trinkets. After the brief stop in Stanley Market, continue to the famous fishing village of Aberdeen.

In Aberdeen the contrast in Hong Kong lifestyles is never more evident. Sampans zip around the harbour, their size dwarfed by huge multi-million dollar yachts and fishing boats in the marina.

A sampan cruise around the docked boats provides a glimpse of every day life as people go about their business repairing nets, cooking, and sorting the catch on their fishing boat.

From Aberdeen, you will be transported directly to the Hong Kong International Airport. Guest's with flights after 4 PM may take this tour.

Note: Guest's must be able to walk approximately 500 yards over flat and uneven surfaces with some steps.

When should I reserve my Land Discoveries? Please book your Land Discoveries as soon as possible since some tours can accommodate only a limited number of participants. Land Discoveries are sold on a first-come, first serve basis and we recommend that you purchase them in advance of your cruise in order to avoid disappointment. On board, you may purchase our Land Discoveries through the interactive TV system in your stateroom (if available), by dropping off your booking form at the Land Discoveries desk or directly speaking to the Land Discoveries staff during the hours advertised in the ships daily program.

How can I book Land Discoveries in advance via the Internet? You can purchase your Land Discoveries online by visiting our website, www.azamaraclubcruises.com at any time. To pre-book a Land Discovery, you will need your cruise reservation number (obtained from your travel agent or reservation agent), ship name, and sailing date. Once you have completed your purchase, an immediate recap of the selected tours will be provided along with a final e-mail confirmation when your credit card purchase is approved.

Your purchased tour ticket(s) will be delivered to you in your stateroom on the evening of embarkation. If you do not receive your tickets in your stateroom, please inquire at the Land Discoveries desk as soon as possible.

Kindly note that you have up to 4 days prior to your sail date to purchase your Land Discoveries online. Once within the 4-day sail date deadline, the booking system is closed and Land Discoveries are no longer available for pre-booking. From this point, all guests must book their Land Discoveries on board the ship on a first-come, first-serve basis.

How do I purchase Land Discoveries on board? To purchase Land Discoveries on board the ship, you must first sign up for a ship board credit account (SeaPass®) before you board at the terminal.

What is a tender port of call? There are some ports where the ship remains at anchor. Either the ship's boats (tenders) or local boats will be used to transport you back and forth between the ship and shore. Tender ports are indicated on the itinerary pages.  Guests with special needs should contact our Access Department at (866) 592-7225 (voice), fax (954) 628-9622, or send an e-mail to [email protected], or have your local Travel Agent or International Representative contact us if you need any special assistance or have any questions.

What do Land Discoveries include? Land Discoveries include transportation according to the itinerary, meals, refreshments, guides, and entrance fees as indicated. Fares for Land Discoveries are subject to change without notice. All prices quoted are based on tariffs and exchange rates current at the time of printing, and are subject to increase with or without previous notice consequent upon any increase in the basic tariff and/or exchange fluctuations, which may accrue prior to commencement of the tours.

Prices of Land Discoveries are quoted per person and generally include local transportation, ranging from coaches, taxis, limousines, and boats. Meals and local taxes are included, where specified.

When and where do Land Discoveries depart? Most Land Discoveries will meet in a lounge on board the ship prior to departing. When the ship is at anchor, staff will be on hand to assist you to the departure point.

Timings have been established according to information received from the local tour operators but are subject to alterations. Should the vessel’s arrival time at the port be delayed or circumstances arise the Land Discovery will be amended accordingly. Guests should be mindful of the fact that at ports where the ship lies at anchor, the afternoon Land Discoveries commence from the dockside, not the ship. Guests should, therefore, allow at least 30 minutes for the tender ride to shore.

Things to consider when booking a Land Discovery • If booking two tours in one day, please allow 45 minutes to an hour between tours. • Tour departure times may vary from those listed on the order form, especially in ports where the ship must tender guests ashore. Please check your tour tickets for the time and location of departure. No announcements for Land Discoveries will be made on board the ship. • Please note there are certain Land Discoveries that for safety reasons, age, weight, and/or height restrictions apply. The individual vendors impose these restrictions and Azamara Club Cruises must comply accordingly. • Due to the various celebrations taking place during the year, kindly note that certain circumstances may arise where the tour content or itinerary may have to be altered without prior notice. This is beyond the control of either the local tour operator or Azamara Club Cruises.   Is it possible to miss the ship? All guests are required to be back on board the ship no later than 30 minutes prior to the scheduled departure time, which is listed in the Daily Program and posted at the gangway. The scheduling of all Land Discoveries conforms to this requirement. If you leave a tour en route, it will be your responsibility to secure transportation and return to the pier on time. If for any reason a ship’s Land Discovery is delayed, the ship will be notified and await the return of all tour participants.

What type of transportation is used for Land Discoveries? Standards of transport vary considerably; however, Land Discoveries utilize the best quality transportation possible in each port. Air-conditioned vehicles are not always available nor do all tour buses have restroom facilities on board. Please note that some countries have local restrictions and/or zoning laws that prohibit the use of the on board facilities and prohibit the idling of engines while parked at the various venues. Please also bear in mind that cars, taxis or mini-buses may be used in some ports where coaches are not available or are limited.

What if I wish to take the same coach as my family or friends? Guests wishing to travel with friends should proceed to the point of departure as indicated on your Land Discovery tickets, as this will help the tour staff to allocate space in the same vehicle.

What if I wish to tour on my own? Guests who do not wish to join one of our Land Discoveries must, therefore, rely on whatever transportation method might be available, at their own expense and responsibility. Private and\or taxi drivers may not be informed of the sailing hour of the ship and

it is not certain that they will follow routes that are more desirable.  In addition, considering the limited transportation facilities in some ports, relief cars may not be obtainable in case of breakdowns along the road.

Please be aware that we cannot offer any alternatives from our established Land Discoveries program. All of our programs are coordinated with reputable tour operators and include a comprehensive overview of the most popular sites of interest. Azamara Club Cruises will not be liable for any loss, injury or damage to any person or property arising from guests choosing to tour the port on their own. Our excursions are an exciting, reliable way to enjoy the sights and activities our ports have to offer. If you choose to tour the port on your own, please use the same safety precautions you would in any urban or tourist area. We cannot validate or account for conditions that may not be suitable or safe for our guests.

Please keep in mind that some ports have visa requirements and restrictions that may prevent you for venturing off on your own.

Will transportation be available from the ship to city centers? Many ports are not located in the city center. For the convenience of our guests, a complimentary shuttle bus service has been arranged in those ports (where applicable) that are located approximately 1 mile or more away from the closest city center and do not have adequate local transportation available. This service is set up to complement local transportation, and guests are welcome to utilize local services, when and where available. Details of which ports will have a shuttle service will be advised on board the ship.

How should I tip our Guide/Driver? Extending a gratuity to your guide or driver is strictly optional; however, in some countries, these personnel may anticipate that if you are pleased with their services, you will reward them in a monetary way. A commonly accepted guideline is USD $3.00 per person for a half-day tour and USD $5.00 per person for a full-day tour.

Will I miss meals when I go ashore? Most tour departure times complement the ships meal service hours, so you can enjoy your meal aboard and then go ashore. However, if you take more than one tour in a day, your return on board may not coincide with meal hours. You will be informed of meal times before arrival in each port. Full day tours include meals where indicated.

What should I wear? Some countries may have more conservative ideas about dress than you are accustomed. To not offend local opinion, it is suggested that you dress conservatively. When visiting places of worship (temples, mosques, etc.), you should avoid wearing shorts, tank tops, or revealing clothing. Guests should wear comfortable walking shoes at all times. When visiting ruins or walking on cobblestone streets, wear rubber-soled shoes. It is also smart to wear a sun hat, protective sunscreen, and sunglasses.

Will I have time to shop? Whenever possible, shopping time has been allocated within the framework of the Land Discovery. However, tours are not designed for shopping and time is limited.

What if I cancel my Land Discovery? No refunds are made to any guest who might cancel, deviate, leave, or otherwise not utilize all of the services scheduled to be provided by a Land Discovery. Members of any tour who elect to leave the automobiles or motor coaches, in the shopping area, or elsewhere, must provide their own transportation at their own expense back to pier. Should any such tour, however, be abandoned through force majeure the best possible refunds will be arranged according to the circumstances. Tours that involve flights, special events, overland stays and hotel accommodations as well private arrangements may be subject to cancellation fees.

Refunds Any refund request of prepaid Land Discoveries received by Azamara Club Cruises 4 days prior to sailing will be made in full (unless noted otherwise). Tours purchased on board may be refunded at any time prior to ticket sales closing for that particular port. If notice of cancellation is received after closing date and hour, a refund can be assured only in the event of the ticket being resold. Land Discoveries desk closing times will be published in the Daily Program. No refunds will be made for failure to use all of the described services included in the tour price. Should any tour have to be abandoned due to difficulties en route, the best possible refund will be arranged according to the circumstances. Please note that tour lengths noted in this brochure are approximate.

How strenuous are the Land Discoveries in each port of call? Most of the cities you will be visiting during your cruise vacation were built without regard for the modern conveniences and

freedoms we may take for granted today. They offer quaint, narrow, cobblestone streets, and large bustling walkways that have been in existence long before the advent of motorized transportation. To preserve their antiquity, many cities and old towns are pedestrian-only, and may not be conveniently accessible for guests with mobility impairments. All of our Land Discoveries require some degree of mild, moderate, or strenuous walking. To assist our guests, we have rated each Land Discovery within this brochure by the amount of walking and stair climbing needed to fully participate as indicated by the description.

Guests wishing to participate in activity type tours, (i.e. biking, kayaking, hiking, etc.), should be in excellent health and make themselves aware of the physical, age, and fitness requirements before making a value judgment as to whether or not to participate. Any guest with limitations, who are pregnant, who have had recent surgery, or are taking prescription drugs, should check with Land Discoveries before booking any activity type tours.

By booking our Land Discoveries, you are also confirming that you and your party are in good physical and mental condition and have no history of seizures, dizziness, fainting, heart conditions or respiratory problems. You also confirm that no one is taking medicine that carries a warning about impairment of physical or mental abilities.

Legal Responsibility Land Discoveries are operated by reputable local agencies and have been thoroughly checked by Azamara Club Cruises for full interest and value. Land Discoveries are offered for sale by Azamara Club Cruises as a convenience to our guests. While great care has been taken to offer the finest tours available in each port, these tour services are provided by independent tour operators and Azamara Club Cruises will not be responsible or liable for any loss, damage, injury, costs or delays resulting from, or in connection with, your use of these services. Azamara Club Cruises acts only as the agent of the supplier of these services and does so on the express condition that no liability of any kind, howsoever caused, shall attach to Azamara Club Cruises or its agents, servants or employees in connection with or arising there from.

All tickets, coupons, and vouchers issued by Azamara Club Cruises for Land Discovery arrangements made on behalf of guests are expressly subject to the terms and conditions of the person or company providing such transportation facilities ashore.
