ProgramOverviewAyurvedicWellnessPractitioner(AWP)-1000HourCertificationProgramThe Ayurvedic Wellness Practitioner (AWP) Program is based on the second goal of Ayurveda—Aaturasya Vikara Prashamanam (Disease management). At this level, the emphasis is on gaining adeeper understanding of the disease process and management techniques at its various stages.Students will gain a deeper understanding of Ayurvedic concepts and techniques. Upon successfulcompletionoftheAWPCourseyouwillbeawardedanAyurvedicWellnessPractitionerCertificate.

PrerequisitesKAA accepts a limited number of students in each class (approximately 25). The prerequisite foradmission to the AWP program is completion of the Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor (AWC) or anequivalentprogram.AWCgraduatescanentertheAWPprogramdirectly.Studentswhohavecompleteda program equivalent to the AWC from other institutions will be required to undergo an interviewprocesstodeterminetheircompetencyinAyurvedicprinciplesandpractices.

CourseDescription&ObjectivesKAA201—AdvancedAnatomy,Physiology&BasicPrinciples(DoshaDhatuMalaVigyan)|Includesanin-depthdiscussionoftheDoshas,Subdoshas,Dhatus,Malas,andAgni.Greateremphasisisplacedonthe Srotas, Kalas andMarmas. This course also includes a deep exploration of the basic principlesdirectlyfromthescripturessuchastheSoothrasthanaofAshtangaHridayam.

KAA 202— Pathophysiology & Ayurvedic Diagnostic Methods (Advanced Nidan & Rogi Pariksha) |Includes a detailed exploration of the five stages of disease identification:Nidan, Purvaroop, Roopa,Upashaya, and Samprapti. This course also looks at the six stages of the disease process: Sanchaya,Prakopa,Prasara,Sthanasamshraya,VyaktiandBheda.StudentswillgainanunderstandingofthesignsofDhatu and SrotaDushti. IndividualClinicalConsultations-40HoursChikitsa Consultations: each student will complete 2 Clinical Consultations (120 minutes) for eachmoduleKAA205-209and2follow-upsessions(60minuteseach).

SpecialProjects–80HoursI. Community Health Education Assignment – 30 Hours | Students will prepare a total of two (2)presentationsforagroupinthecommunity.Theymayorganizethispresentationthemselvesandinvitethepublicorarrange todeliver thispresentationatanoffice, schoolorotherplaceofbusiness.Eachpresentationshouldruntwohours in lengthandbedeliveredonatopicof interesttothegroup.Thistopic may be related to their Research Project or Paper but may not substitute for time spentcompleting the research paper or project and vice versa. The student may also select to do theirresearchpaperorprojectontheoutcomeandexperienceoftheirpresentations.

Approximately13hoursofpreparationshouldgointoeachpresentation’spreparationandplanning,fora total of 26 hours of planning and 4 hours (2 hour each for both presentations) of uninterrupteddelivery(i.e.thestudentisthemainpresenterandspeaker).

RefundPolicy

StateofCalifornia The registration and manual fee is nonrefundable. The student has the right to cancel theenrollment agreement and obtain a refund of charges paid through attendance at the first classsession, or the seventh day after enrollment, whichever is later. There will be no refund if thestudentdecidestowithdrawafter60%oftheclasses(attendanceofthe7thclass)oronlinemodules(accessed7thonlinemodule). Each In-Class Intensives covers the content of one online modules. Refund Requests will beprocessedbasedonIn-ClassIntensivesandonlinemodulesaccessed(whicheverisgreater). Awritten notice from the students, about the cancellationwill be required. A telephone callaboutcancellationorabsenteeismfortheclasseswillnotbeconsideredastruecancellation.Insuchcases, studentwill not receive the refund for thatperiod.The refundwill beprocessedwithin30days from the day KAA receives the official written notice of cancellation from the student. Therefund checkwill bemailed to theofficial addressof the student. If original payment is by creditcardtherefundwillbeprocessedonthecreditcard. Refunds will be issued within 30 days of the date of student notification, or date of schooldetermination(withdrawnduetoabsencesorothercriteriaasspecifiedintheschoolcatalog),orinthecaseofastudentnotreturningfromanauthorizedLeaveofAbsence(LOA),within30daysofthedatethestudentwasscheduledtoreturnfromtheLOAanddidnotreturn.StateofWashington

Five-DayCancellation:Anapplicantwhoprovideswrittennoticeofcancellationwithinfivedays(excludingSaturday,Sundayandfederalandstateholidays)ofsigninganenrollmentagreement isentitled to a refund of all tuition paid. No later than 30 days after receiving the notice ofcancellation,theschoolshallprovidea100%refundoftuitionandfeespaid.

OtherCancellations:Anapplicantrequestingcancellationmorethanfivedaysaftersigninganenrollmentagreementandmakinganinitialpayment,butpriortoenteringtheschool,isentitledtoarefundofallmoniespaid(minustheregistration/manualfeeof$350).

Rejection:Anapplicantrejectedbytheschoolisentitledtoarefundofallmoniespaid.RefundPolicyDefined-WA1. The school must refund all money paid if the applicant is not accepted. This includes

2. The school may retain an established registration fee equal to ten percent of the totaltuitioncost,or$100,whichever is less, if theapplicantcancelsafterthefifthbusinessdayafter signing the contract or making an initial payment. A “registration fee” is any feechargedbyaschooltoprocessstudentapplicationsandestablishastudentrecordsystem.

AttendancePolicyThisprogramconsistsof475contacthours,ofwhichthestudentneedstocomplete450.Virtualclassesaccountfor75contacthours,in-classsessionsandlivebroadcastsaccountfor200contacthoursandtheClinicalInternshipaccountsfor200contacthours.Astudentmaybeabsentfromeitheronein-classorlive broadcast session and 3 virtual classroom sessionsOR 16 virtual classroom sessions. The ClinicalInternshipof200hoursisrequired.

Make-upandRetakePolicyIfstudentisabsentfromanin-classorlivebroadcastsession,he/shemaymakeitupatanyKAAtraininglocationorvia livebroadcast, freeof charge. TerminationPolicy1. Ifthecourseisterminatedafterthestudentbeginsclasses,theAcademymayretainapercentageof

thetotaltuitionasdescribedinthetablebelow.2. The official date of termination of a student shall be the last date of recorded attendancewhen

withdrawaloccursinanyofthefollowingmanners:3. When the student is terminated for a violationof apublishedAcademypolicywhichprovides for

termination;or,4. Whenastudent,withoutnotice,eitherfailstoattendclassesorcheckoutcoursevideosforthirty

(30)calendardays.5. Astudentwillbedeterminedtobewithdrawnfromtheinstitutionifthestudenthasnotattended

any class for three consecutive class weekends. He/she will be notified by telephone after twomissedweekendsandhe/shewillbedraftedafterthethirdweekend.

6. ForastudentwhoisonauthorizedLeaveofAbsence,thewithdrawaldateisthedatethestudentwasscheduledtoreturnfromLeaveandfailedtodoso.

SuspensionandDismissalPolicyTherearedisciplinaryguidelinestoprovideanenvironmenttolearnandgrowindependently,whichgivestudentsrightsandresponsibilities.1. Anybehaviordisruptivetootherstudentsorthesmoothrunningoftheclasswillnotbeallowed.2. Studentswillhavetopaythetuitionontime.3. Studentshavetomaintainapassinggradeof70%.Atfirstincidence,warningwillbegiven.Atthesecondincidencethestudentwillbesuspendedfortheentireweekend.Studentwillbereadmittedaftersuspendedweekend.Ifthebehaviorpersists,thestudentwillbedismissedfromtheprogram.Whentheconductofthestudentthreatenstheotherstudent’ssafety,KAreservestherighttodismissastudentimmediately.

LeaveofAbsenceStudents can takea leaveof absence forup toone (1) yearwithwrittenpermission. Schoolmaybecontactedat+1(888)275-9103orbymailat46500FremontBlvd,Suite702,Fremont,CA94538.Thestudent may resume classes the following year at the level where he/she took leave. Unless priorarrangementsaremadewiththeschoolaboutthepayment,student isobligatedtopaythetuitionasperplan.

FinancialAidKeralaAyurvedaAcademydoesnotofferstateorfederalfinancialaidtostudents.Ifastudentobtainsaloantopayforaneducationalprogram,thestudentwillhavetheresponsibilitytorepaythefullamountof the loan plus interest, less the amount of any refund. If the student has received federal studentfinancial aid funds, the student is entitled to a refund of themoneys not paid from federal studentfinancialaidprogramfunds.Ifastudentiseligibleforaloanguaranteedbythefederalorstategovernmentandthestudentdefaultsontheloan,bothofthefollowingmayoccur:1. The federalorstategovernmentora loanguaranteeagencymaytakeactionagainst thestudent,

includingapplyinganyincometaxrefundtowhichthepersonisentitledtoreducethebalanceowedontheloan.

2. Thestudentmaynotbeeligibleforanyotherfederalstudentfinancialaidatanotherinstitutionorothergovernmentassistanceuntiltheloanisrepaid.

Successful completion of the ‘GeneralEnglish Proficiency Test’ -Intermediate level is required for enrollment of all foreign students. Visaservices are not provided and Kerala Ayurveda will not vouch for student status and any associatedcharges.

9. HowmanyofyourgraduatespracticeAyurvedicmedicine?

There are different ways students utilize their Ayurvedic education. Many of the studentsincorporate Ayurvedic knowledge in their current practice as physicians, nurses or massagetherapists.OthersstartacareermanufacturingandsellingvariousAyurvedicproducts,whileothersstart a health counseling practice. ----Studying Ayurveda is very different than studyingmathematics,accounting,orcomputers.YouwilllearnaboutlifestudyingAyurveda.Soyouractualstudyingwill happenduring theday,whenyouare interactingwithotherpeople. If you read thetextmaterialforanhourtoanhourandahalfeverymorning(earlymorningideally)youwilldowellinthecourse.Whatyouread inthemorning,youwillexperienceduringtheday.ObservingotherpeopleandinteractingwiththemisthewayyouwilllearntrueAyurveda.

10. Aretheremonthlytests?Ifeelveryanxiousabouttakingtests.

Pleasetrynotfeelanxiousaboutthetests.Thetestingisdoneonlineandthestudentisgivenfive(5) attempts at taking the test. This highest score is recorded. The tests are for you (andus) toknowwhat youhave learned andwhat youdidn’t sowe can keep youup to speed.Wewant tomake sure our students understand all the Ayurvedic concepts clearly. Ayurveda is about humanhealth,soaclearunderstandingisvital.

11. Iwillbetravelingfromoutoftowntoattendclasses,istherehousingassistanceavailable?

KAAdoesnothavedormitories.Thereareafewhotelsnearthecampuseswherestudentscanbookaroomfor theweekend.Therangeofcost isapprox.$75-$125. In thepast, somestudentshavemade good friends with classmates and stayed with them on those weekends. KAA has noresponsibilitytoassistastudentinfindinghousing.

12. WhencanIvisittheschool?Doyouhaveopenhousesorvisitor’sevents?We allow our prospective students to sit inwith the current class, so that they get a feel of theclassroom setting and the topic. With a prior appointment, students are welcome to visit theacademyandtalktotheAcademyAdministrator.Weareheretoassistourstudentsinanywaywecan.
