EVIDENCE OF DISASSEMBLY OR SIGNS OF MISUSE MAY INVALIDATE WARRANTY Aylesbury Stainless Steel Valves are suitable for use with sea water, demineralised water, brine solutions, water treatment and process applications. Please note the following:- RAISED VALVE CHAMBERS: KS – Type Valves are not generally suitable for raised valve chambers. OPERATING SPACE: Check for sufficient clearance - see sheet Ki051*. OVERFLOW/WARNING PIPES: Check the position of the Overflow and Warning Pipe (where fitted). See dimension “R max”, sheet Ki051*. TURBULENT WATER: Exceptionally turbulent waters, eg: cooling towers, should be avoided directly beneath the float. Calming measures such as baffle plates, still ponds etc. should be implemented. FLANGED TANKS: The design of the Aylesbury ‘KS’ Type Valve allows sufficient clearance between the Float and most internal tank flanges and ribs - see dimension "G" on sheet Ki050*. The Tail Backnuts may be adjusted to clear larger flanges, provided a minimum of 20mm is observed between the Float and tank structure throughout its arc. ROUND TANKS: Minimum tank internal diameters required (metres):- ½” ¾” 1” 1¼” 1½” 2” 1.00 1.00 1.00 1.30 2.30 2.30 SLOPING TANK WALL: The wall to which the Aylesbury Valve is to be attached must be vertical. If the wall around the fixing hole is sloped, tapered washers must be used. These are generally available from the tank supplier. PIPEWORK SUPPORT: Aylesbury Valves create virtually no tank wall stress. Additional pipework support is therefore unnecessary provided the Code of Practice for the support of pipework in general is met. SERVICE VALVE: A servicing valve must be fitted as near as is reasonably practicable to any float operated valve. A service valve incorporating a particle strainer is highly recommended. These are available direct from Keraflo Ltd.

PRE-INSTALLATION CHECKS

AYLESBURY Valves are unlike any other float operated valve, ballcock or ball valve. Read these instructions and refer to dimension sheets Ki050* & Ki051*before installation. Installation of valves should be in accordance with The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and BS6700:1997 Para. 2.2.4 The Aylesbury Stainless Steel Valve contains a pair of maintenance free ceramic discs. Aylesbury Stainless Steel Valves are suitable for use with sea water, demineralised water, brine solutions, water treatment and process applications. Please note the following:- RAISED VALVE CHAMBERS:

KS – Type Valves are not generally suitable for raised valve chambers.

OPERATING SPACE: Check for sufficient clearance - see sheet Ki051*.

OVERFLOW/WARNING PIPES:

Check the position of the Overflow and Warning Pipe (where fitted).

ROUND TANKS: Minimum tank internal diameters required (metres):- ½” ¾” 1” 1¼” 1½” 2” 1.00 1.00 1.00 1.30 2.30 2.30

SLOPING TANK WALL: The wall to which the Aylesbury Valve is to be attached must be vertical.

INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS Installation of valves should be in accordance with The Water Supply (Water Fittings) Regulations 1999 and BS6700:1997 Para. 2.2.4. To avoid damage, fit the Float Arm Assembly after installing the Valve in the tank. 1. Before fitting the Valve, flush the supply pipes to clear all debris. 2. Remove and retain the Double R Clip from the Valve Body. 3. Remove and discard the protective Cap from the Tail. Remove and retain one Backnut and Washer.

Insert the Valve Tail through the hole in the tank wall, replace the Washer and Backnut with the Washer against the tank wall.

4. Connect the supply pipe, via a service valve, then hand tighten Backnut to suit. To prevent the Valve

turning when tightening the pipe fitting, use either a wrench or a spanner (46mm) on the Tail inside the tank. DO NOT USE A WRENCH ON ANY OTHER PART OF THE VALVE.

5. Assemble the Float and Float Arm (see separate instructions - Ki052*). 6. Fit the Float Arm Assembly to the Valve Body Spigot, ensuring the Stainless Steel Pin locates in the

hole of the Actuator Wheel - see sheet Ki050*. Place a finger or thumb through the loop in the Double R Clip, then push the Clip into the Spigot groove until it clicks into place.

7. Rotate the Valve as necessary so the Float Arm is ABSOLUTELY VERTICAL in the Valve open

position, as indicated by the Spirit Level (bubble between black lines) on the Float Arm. Tighten Backnuts then CHECK ALIGNMENT AGAIN.

8. Remove and discard the protective Cap from the Discharge Assembly.

ALIGNMENT WARNING!! THE BUILT-IN SPIRIT LEVEL MUST BE USED TO ALIGN THIS VALVE.

It is imperative that the Float Arm is fitted in the vertical position when the Valve is fully open. This is critical to the operation of the Valve.

ADJUSTING CLOSING WATER LEVEL (TWL) 1. Pull out the Float Adjusting Catch. 2. Move the Float to the desired position. 3. Release Catch and ensure Pin locates in desired hole.

TESTING Before leaving the installation, test the Valve operation a number of times ensuring the Valve moves freely from the open to closed position and closed to open position. Where a Valve has not been in operation for a period of time it is also recommended the above procedure is carried out.

Before installing the valve, the Float and Float Arm must be assembled as follows –

1. Pull out the Float Adjusting Catch.

2. Slide the Float Arm into the “Top” side of the Float. Note – the Arm will only go in when the black moulding is the same side as the Float Adjusting Catch.

3. Once the Arm is right through the Float, release the Float Adjusting Catch

ensuring the Pin locates in the desired hole, The Float must be adjusted once the Valve is installed in the tank to ensure the Closing Level (TWL) is below the overflowing level.

4. R-CLIP – Insert the R-CLIP (supplied in the bag attached to this sheet) into the

hole at the end of the Float Arm. This prevents the Float being set too low.
