WARRANTY

Couristan provides a two-year limited repair or replace-ment warranty for its 80% Wool / 20% Nylon AxminsterCarpets. The company warrants (to the original purchas-er) that all of our Axminster carpets will be free from anymaterial or manufacturing fault or defect which wouldprevent our carpets from providing satisfactory servicefor a period of two years from the date of proper instal-lation. This warranty shall apply only to carpet installedand maintained in accordance with CRI-104 guidelinesfor substrate conditions and the Couristan installationguidelines. In addition, this warranty excludes any dam-age caused by normal or extraordinary wear and tear,pulls, cuts, pilling, burns, rips, matting, crushing, water-marking, pooling, pile reversal; improper use (such as onstairs), cleaning or maintenance; or any damage arisingfrom factors not inherent at the time of purchase. Materialand manufacturing defects will be determined by anAuthorized Couristan Inspector. No other warrantiesimplied or stated in any other form are applicable to themanufacture and sale of this carpet.

Couristan AxminsterCarpet Warranty

Specific conditions that would void the warranty ofCouristan’s 80/20 Axminster carpets include: excessivemoisture at the installation site; any exposure to liquidsand/or solutions which would compromise carpet dyesand/or color stability; inappropriate and/or insufficientprotection of the carpet after its installation. The use ofany plastic carpet covering, particularly those containingadhesives, will be considered a forfeit of the rights includ-ed under this warranty. Plastic can trap moisture againstthe carpet fibers and compromise the integrity of thewool, affect the yarn and its appearance and leave aresidue on the carpet which can not be removed. Use ofan appropriate protective covering, such as Kraft paperwith Masonite sheets, is required under this warranty.

In addition, this warranty does not cover changes in car-pet color, yellowing or fading or other discolorationresulting from external causes including, without limitation,fading due to sunlight, UV light, Ozone (O3), emissionsfrom heating fuels, pesticides, cleaning agents or othernon-food or non-beverage substances, fume fading or other atmospheric or chemical influences.

Furthermore, this warranty explicitly excludes anyCouristan carpet which has been surface treated with

materials not recommended or approved by Couristan,or which has been subjected to abnormal use or condi-tions, or exposed to cleaning agents or maintenancemethods not recommended or approved by Couristan.All carpet and rug maintenance cleaning products, maintenance equipment and maintenance systems mustbe certified through the Carpet and Rug Institute (CRI) Green Label and Seal of Approval Programs.Approved products are listed on the CRI website at www.carpet-rug.org. Cleaning products mustalso be approved for use with wool carpeting. Any cleaning agents used on 80/20 wool blends requirecleaning agents that are safe for wool. In the event that Couristan’s 80/20 Axminster Carpetfails to perform as warranted, a formal written notificationshould be submitted to Couristan. Procedures andrequirements for submitting warranty-related claims canbe obtained by contacting your Couristan ContractSpecialist. Couristan, at its sole discretion, will replace,repair, refund or give credit (to the original purchaser) forthe proportion of the price for the carpet which fails tocomply with this warranty. We require a TechnicalService Representative to physically inspect and analyzethe carpet conditions, situation and circumstances beforeany repair or replacement is made. This warranty shall notapply to defects first notified to Couristan after a time peri-od of two years from installation. Couristan’s repair orreplacement warranty does not cover certain inherentcarpet characteristics which may affect the product’sappearance and/or performance over time.
