PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
SCHOOL REVIEW - PARENT FORUM
As part of the ongoing School Review, parents are invited to an Open Forum on Monday 19th from
2.50 – 3.25. The Forum will be held in the Grade 2/3 classroom.
Michael Cain, our School Reviewer, will conduct the forum and will raise a number of topics that he wishes
to gain a parent perspective from. There will also be an opportunity to ask questions and raise points of
interest. Everybody is welcome.
REMEMBRANCE DAY
Well done to Angus, Katya, Zane, Nadia
and Thomas who conducted a
Remembrance Day Ceremony at school
last Friday. They put together a very
respectful ceremony that was well
understood by all Prep- 6 students.
Our School
Captains
Angus and
Katya laid a wreath on behalf of the school
at the Axedale Ceremony on Sunday.
BLUES AND ROOTS FESTIVAL
Our School Rock Band members performed
wonderfully well at the Bendigo Blues and
Roots Festival on Sunday. Congratulations to
Alex, Callum, Macy, Lainey, Amelia, Mia,
Lottie, Zane, Leila-Jean, Sadie, Emily J &
Evie on their focus, confidence, team work
and adaptability.
Thanks to the parents for their support on the
day and leading up to the performance.
A big thanks to Mr. Marsh for providing
Axedale students with such an amazing
opportunity. To start with nothing and build
up to a four song performance in just three terms has been amazing. Looking forward to next year to see
what can be achieved!!
CHRISTMAS CONCERT
We will again be holding our Christmas Concert in the Axedale Hall. This year the concert will be on
Wednesday 19th December, will begin at 6.45pm and will run for approximately one hour. Our grades will
perform a number of Christmas items and we will also present a number of students with a range of awards.
PARENTS, VOLUNTEERS AND FRIENDS
Following our PVF Meeting on Tuesday morning, the committee would like the following items noted:-
PVF is planning to conduct a Car Rally in late Term 1 next year. Before too much time is invested in
organising the event, PVF is asking families to indicate if they would be a likely participant in such
an event or are interested in being on the organising committee. Please complete the slip at the end of
the Newsletter and return it to school by Friday 23rd November.
As is customary, there will be a BBQ lunch on Orientation Day – December 11th. From 12.30pm
students will be able to have a sausage in bread. Families may wish to send other food on the day.
Parents of 2019 Prep students are encouraged to come along and meet with staff and parents in
attendance. PVF is looking of a couple of volunteers to help with cooking the BBQ. Help is required
from approx. 11.30 – 1.00pm.
There will be a Family BBQ/Picnic Night to farewell Mr. J on Thursday 13th December from
6.30pm. The BBQ will be available for use (BYO meat) or families can choose to bring along their
own tea. Games and equipment will be out for the children and parents to use if they would like.
Each year PVF provide an Afternoon Tea for Staff as a way of acknowledging the work put in
throughout the year. If you are able to assist with a small donation of food, it would be much
appreciated. Please contact Kellie Gwin/Tanya Czuczman by Friday December 7th.
A Family Picnic Night to get to know new and existing school families is planned for February 21st
next year.
PVF are co-ordinating an Engraved Brick Fundraiser. Bricks will be
for sale for $25, with $5 a brick going to the school. The bricks will
be placed at the front entrance of the school as part
of our welcoming entrance. Paperwork for
ordering bricks will be distributed to families next
week.
Christmas Raffle – we will again be conducting a
Christmas Raffle – to be drawn at the end of year
concert on Wednesday 19th December. Families are asked to donate an item to go towards a number
of hampers that will be made up. Raffle tickets for hampers will be sent home with the Newsletter on
November 29th. Tickets and Hamper items are required by Thursday December 14th.
The result of the Golf Day was an amazing overall profit of $20,400, which will be shared with the
Axedale Pre-School. Once again, a big thanks to our wonderful committee – Liz Harrington, Tara
Coffin-Harrold, Kat Simon, Tanya Czuczman, Chloe Cavill, Ange Fiske-Kealy and Trudi Jackson
(Fosterville Mine) and to all of our families who donated goods, food items or time to help make the
day a success.

OUR REBOUND WALL IS CHANGING! Many of our students have been working with Shannon Leed over
recent weeks to change to face of our new rebound wall. The back of
the wall will be completed this week and the ground markings will
then be completed next week.
The students are loving being involved,
choosing a friend to work with and have
enjoyed showing off their artwork to other
students at recess and lunchtimes.
