MARY BALE, CAUGHT ON VIDEO THROWING CAT INTO TRASH BIN,

SAYS 'SORRY' AFTER RECEIVING DEATH THREATS:

BYMICHAEL SHERIDAN DAILY NEWS STAFF WRITER WED. AUGUST 25TH 2010,Suffering Sucatash!

A woman inEnglandwho was caught on video tossing a cat into a trash bin has received multiple

death threats, and now, says she's sorry.

"I want to take this opportunity to apologize profusely for the upset and distress that my actions

have caused,"Mary Balesaid in a statement on Wednesday.

"I cannot explain why I did this, it is completely out of character and I certainly did not intend to

cause any distress to [the cat] or her owners."

The four-year-old tabby, Lola, was strolling along a sidewalk when Bale, 45, walked by. She can be

seen in the video stopping by the trash bin, then when the cat approaches, she pets it briefly before

lifting it up and tossing it in.

"It was a split second of misjudgment that has got completely out of control," she said. "I am due

to meet with the [Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals] and police to discuss this

matter and will cooperate fully with their investigations."

The remorseful words were then followed by a less than purr-fect remark, however, as Bale added,

"I don't know what the fuss is about. It's just a cat."

Bale, an unwed bank clerk, insists she never thought the cat would be trapped in the bin. The tabby

was not discovered until 15 hours later, when its owner heard it meowing.

"I expected it to wriggle out," she said.

The video was posted onYouTube, and has since received nearly 350,000 views. It has not gained

    her any fans, either.

"Absolutely disgusting," wrote one commenter. "You really have to feel for that cat. I so hope that

    woman has a lonely life."

"People are so evil," wrote another.
